Title: record release finally
Post by: tufnel1530 on March 15, 2020, 03:37:25 PM
Yes I know there is a music sub but no one reads it.  :P

If you don’t know me from my music background I have been playing music (guitar, bass. keyboards, crappy drummer) since I was little. I am and was a session and live performer in NYC, Nashville and elsewhere all through the 90s and beyond. Also a producer, audio engineer and Pro Tools guy.

The backstory: My band in the late 90s Steakhouse recorded a record that never really came out properly due to record label BS and the recession after the dot.com crash. (It came out but really wasn’t released properly or mixed well.)

Last year after a divorce I had some” free time” and decided to fix it up and have it remixed and mastered and finally put it out since I had been sitting on the tapes for years.

I enlisted the help of some A list Nashville based friends for mixing and mastering and did most everything else myself in my home studio (guitars, backing vocals, bass, keyboards, engineering, production). The guy who mastered this has a few Grammys and did the Kiss remasters, Steely Dan, Hank Williams on and on.

Check it out and if you don’t like I will refund your money if you send me a note telling me why you don’t like it or me for that matter lol. If you buy it and like it enough to want a better quality cd version of it email me and I can send a cd. I even have hi res 48/24 if you are an audio nerd.

It is on Itunes, Amazon, Spotify etc etc There is another band named Steakhouse who had a record out a few years ago so make sure you download the correct 2020 release with the painted bull logo.

https://www.amazon.com/Steakhouse/dp/B085LVTXG3/ref=sr_1_5?keywords=steakhouse+music&qid=1583976589&sr=8-5

For people who are Kiss fans this features the fan favorite Ace Frehley (is your hair still long?)… at least it does until Gene Simmons sues me to take it down. Basically a song about Ace faking his own death and living in france and being asked to come back and save rock and roll from its current sorry state.  :P

This was a lot of work and a labor of love to help keep me sane after my divorce.

Hopefully you enjoy it in the sprit intended as just music for music sake without any real commercial aim whatsoever (who the hell does that anymore?). real music recorded by actual live musicians. -T

I downloaded the album.  I like what I heard so far.  I will listen to more of it tomorrow on the drive to work (if Howard is a repeat   :))

Good luck Todd!  The music business is tough these days.

Not really my kind of music, but it sounds great, radio quality for sure! And i surely rely to "the keeping me sane" activity to help you going through a divorce.
My fav ones are Landslide & Dune Buggy. I liked the instrumental ones too.
Good job dude!

Thanks man... if you like it I am happy to send a cd also.

Cd quality sounds great so it kinda sucks people can only download the lower quality Mp3s but thats the way it is today.

No worries on the biz side I did this for fun and have no real aim to make a buck off it... my days of trying to make money in the music biz are long over. I only do stuff now when people ask me to.

yah sure I get that... I appreciate the listen. My friend who mixed this is a legit Nashville A lister so thanks to him for the way its sounds in the end.

I dont really even know what kind of music it is really so i put in under rock.

We had songs that were almost metal and things that were straight up country so all over the map.

Thanks, I'll see how it sounds in the car.  It will probably sound fine but I appreciate the offer!

Its sounds fine as MP3 just annoying to put all that work in to making it sound good only to have every website crush it into Mp3 at 25% of the original sound quality.

I was going to press cds but noone really buys them anymore.

Not something that i would purchase, but way better than most of the freaking garbage that is released on iTunes anymore. There is some terrible shit out there. Good luck with your venture.

actually really well produced. :) ace frehley lyrics sound like something i would write, but with more violence.

i think your category is alternative rock / roots rock / pop rock / jangle pop. a couple of songs, to me, have a counting crows vibe (and i stole that description for what their music is categorized as...). but there's country there, with a little blake sheltonesque style in a couple of songs.

thanks Chris.. that was a weird band. The record has more variety but live it was a pretty straight up rock band.

Singer was 6 foot 4 and weighed about 500 pounds, had a chick on bass and drummer was a black dude who walked around NYC in leather pants and a leopard print cowboy hat.

I did a ton of different stuff over the years. Rockabilly, straight up country, hard rock/metal/ noise rock  :P

When I lived In California for a few years I played in pretty much only fast punk bands. I played for a while with one of the original dudes from No Doubt and Smelly from NOFX.

Just curious, what are the requirements to get your record on Amazon, Spotify and co?

Definitely my kind of music ! Love the pop sensibilities of the songs with a hard edge guitar sound. Perfect combination ! Top notch effort all around. Great job, you should still be playing !   8)

Thanks for giving it a listen.

I still play I just stick to the session stuff when people ask me to do things.

I havent been in an actual band in I dont know how many years but that was never my thing anyways. I get bored playing the same songs over and over.

I have another project I did bass and guitars on coming out next month. Not sure what its called yet.
