Nanao MS2930 Dynamic Convergence - Help Needed
« on: May 16, 2018, 12:16:47 PM »
(Based on another thread)   Hi.    I'm fairly confident that my Nanao MS2930 needs some convergence strips and I promised my wife in the past that HVAC and electricity were two things I wouldn't do myself if there was a risk of injury (after experiencing some bad shocks and freeze burns from past endevours).

I'm hoping someone experienced in this may be able to help.  I called around to the few places around that still repair CRTs and they don't want to mess with it.

Need to see all 4 corners of the monitor in test mode.  I can see the upper left is off, is it also like that on the lower part?

I can pull some off an old monitor around here if you can't find any.  I know there are 4 beasts out in the junk pile.

Honestly that monitor isn't that bad, I would just roll with it.

I agree it's really not bad but I really want it to be better.. .. Even if it only has a little time left.  To me,  it's a great example of a visual experience you don't see anymore, and I have a family reunion in 2 months and I want it to look as good as it could by then.

Upper left and right are the worst which is why I focused there.   Yeah theres a little problem in the bottom two corners too, but not as bad.

FunWiz... I may take you up on the convergence strip offer...i can't find them online anywhere.

i'm with mike/larry on this one.

with monitors, you may cause more issues than you started with. and your family will never notice.

good luck. :)

So it wouldn't be as easy as remove any added convergence strips to get back to the current condition?

If that is the original monitor then it is a ticking time bomb; it's going to die...  The convergence issues on the corners are minor, the larger the monitor the more issues in the corners.  I would just leave it be, that monitor looks better than 99% of the monitors I ever played on in any arcade as a kid.

I have a blast with a d9200 in it now...

OK cool.  I never really paid attention 20 years ago to those things anyways.  I bet anyone else wouldn't either. I'll leave it be I suppose.  Thanks for your opinions everyone.
