A saw a different video on this the other day.

So the core audience for the NES & SNES classic is people who remember playing those games when they were kids, but maybe aren't super techie. Them and game collectors.

People who played DOS games back in the day ARE at least fairly technically minded. They can run DOSBox on a modern PC. Not really as much of a game collector market for old PC games either, there's some, but nothing like the NES collectors.

The only way I could see this being worth $99 is if it came with a LOT of good games.

Why the hell include composite video if it's got HDMI too? Guess it just came standard with the Raspberry Pi or other off-the-shelf solution they're using in there.
CGA graphics had that thing where the colors could actually look much better through composite (harsh as hell color pallet on a real CGA monitor) but I doubt that's what they're going for here - plus I'd expect most of the games to be from the VGA era, with maybe a few CGA & EGA. Not going to want to switch back & forth between video hookups to get the best video on a per-game basis though.

Does anyone really want to play Commander Keene again? And DOOM has been ported to every damn thing over the years.

Monochrome looks SO MUCH better than CGA. Fuckin gouge out my eyes rather than deal with that shit again. Who the hell chose those absolutely brutal shades of aqua and purple when you're limited to that few standard colors? Bastard CGA designers.

Leisure Suit Larry
Curse of Monkey Island
The Incredible Machine

I could get into playing a few of those old games. You can keep Commander Keen, though ...

How well does it emulate wasting hours trying to figure out your sound cards IRQ? Or getting a multiplayer game cutoff because your mom needed to call her friend?

Cool concept, but I don’t see it being any better than a Pi with DOSBox on it.
