See there's your problem.. had you bought the 2515CDS you'd still be fine.

These off lease systems aren't bad but I'd rather spend a few extra hundred and build something to spec.

I've got several HP Elitedesk I5s in the garage that I got from client sites for free, throw an SSD in and they are great machines still.. well not for gaming of course.

Those are actually new.  If you aren't a gamer, it's a pretty compelling deal, especially when they are offering coupons or extra cash back.  I think CPU+Ram+HD is worth more than $300.

The off lease stuff is pretty competitive if you don't need the latest and greatest.  That NVME slot is the gotcha there though I think.

Oh for fucks sake...

YES AMD Piledriver and Bulldozer based CPUs were slow power hungry space heaters. That being said my 9700k runs just as hot if not hotter than my 965 Black did, at an all core 4.8ghz clock I NEED a 280mm AIO to keep the thermals in check. Are the Zen series CPUs as good/fast as Intels? No BUT you spend twice as much for a moderate single core increase and below the 9900k Intels get smoked at multithread performance.

Lower prices for the chip and the motherboards make RYZEN tops in "Bang For Buck". If you are not building a screaming game monster they are perfectly acceptable rigs.
