Gauntlet Dark legacy Audio Issue

Hello,

So I recently purchased a non-working Gauntlet Dark Legacy off of craigslist. The person said it was non-working and they tried a a new boardset to fix it. Well I checked which chips they had on the boards and found they had mixed up the security chips. So I swapped these and now the game will goto the service menu. When I try to load the Game it fails with the following error code "audio system init timed out" Does anyone have any ideas. I double checked all the jumpers and they look correct. I also tried both Audio Boards.

The sound rom is there however it was placed in the slot backwards by the previous owner who had now idea about how these worked.

I also just checked the voltages and everything looks good so I think it is just a bad sound rom. Anyone know where I can get just the sound rom?

thanks, i will look to see what i have in my workshop, i may have an extra working audio board, will need to sort my GDL sets.

i found my working gdl boardset, and fired it up, i pulled the i/o (u44), and took some pictures of what it does.

i burned a new chip, and will get it out in the mail today.

(see attached images to see what it looks like with a bad or missing u44)
