My Gorf is gorfed
« on: September 11, 2012, 02:59:27 PM »
Game worked before getting transported.

Now when you turn it on all the lights come up and seems like its trying to get going but the picture never comes up. I saw it come up in kind of a blank light blue one time and when you kill power to the game you get a flash on the screen for a second.

I reseated connectors on the power supply since I know that is prone to have issues. Fuses look OK..

Any other basic ideas keeping in mind I'm not an experienced arcade tech so unlikely to mess with anything that may fry me??

if anyone is local to Tampa and wants to take a crack at fixing it I can kick you some cash also..

well yes and no.. I did the ones that were easy to get.. some were pretty stubborn and I was worried I was using too much force since they look old and fragile.

I will be there tomorrow and try and reseat everything when I have more time to mess with it.

agree with the Hamster, it does sound like board connectors, and what are there, like 26 boards in the gorf stack?

good luck. should come back with little effort, since it worked before being moved. if not, start checking your 5 and 12 voltages. :)

I reseated all the boards and reseated and checked connectors etc.. still same shit.

I'm pretty sure it has something to do with the power supply but since Im not a tech not sure I want to start dicking around with it.

There is one burnt pin on the connector on the PS (pic) but it doesnt look new and it did work.. so not sure thats the problem.

I can always haul it over to Jim I guess..

I have the same problem with the connector, except a previous owner soldered it directly to the pin. Also, I can get mine to boot up and play, but as soon as I do, the enemies cheat with their RAIN OF DEATH! Is this due to corrupted ROMs?

Everything has been reseated. Video of problem is below (hope you don't mind me piling on Tbone).

K7, Batman is making a voodoo doll of  you and the crx to go next to the Hamster voodoo doll.

Better be careful and apologize before the pins start going in...
