Details of the "Pinfever's Master of Puppets 3 Ring Circus of Tapping Fools Tourney"

3 game qualifying on Metallica, Spider-Man and Whirlwind.

Each of the 18 players was allowed one ball on each game and needed to start any multiball.  If multiball was not started, the game was over and the score recorded. If multiball was started on ball one, the player could play out the remaining 2 balls and the score was recorded.  In order to advance to the next round, multiball had to be achieved on ball one in at least one game.

There were 18 players.  Only 4 managed to meet the requirement.

Adam achieved multiball on ball one on Metallica.

Sebastian, Eric L. and Dean all achieved multiball on ball one on Spider-Man.

Eric L. achieved quick multiball on Whirlwind on ball one.

None of the remaining 14 players succeeded in meeting the goal. The remaining players were ranked according to sums of the 1 ball scores on the games to see who was Super Grover.

Non qualifying 1 ball rankings (hi sum to low sum)

Jeff from AO
Donny
Mark
Denise
Chuck
Carlos
Eric R.
Dan
Zhanna
Jeff P.
Joel
Frank
Nathan
Chris awarded Super Grover

Finals were played on Metallica in a traditional 4 player 3 ball format.

Since Eric achieved multiball in 2 games, he was the highest seeded player.  The other players were awarded points based on how they scored and this allowed them to pick order.  Adam and Dean were tied and Sebastian was lowest qualifier.

The final results were as follows:

1 Sebastian
2 Adam
3 Eric L
4 Dean

Super Grover Chris

Happy Easter

Actually the goal really should not have been that bad on Spider-Man.  2 shots will start the first Doc Ock MB mode.  But to me, that first shot was being a little quirky and rejecting shots for some reason. That is why I think you saw less people getting it. It takes a lot more work to start Black Suit MB.

Metallica is wicked trying to start a multiball on one ball, but it can be done, but it requires a little luck from the magnet gods around Sparky when it is whipping back.   Grave would be the next easiest (5 shots), followed by Snake (11 shots) and practically forget about Coffin in one ball on a Premium.

A MB in Whirlwind is really tough unless you happen to have quick multiball lit. Again, regular MB could be done, but less likely in just one ball.

I thought the idea was neat, but maybe too hard for one ball as you said.

Interestingly, I think if you had people play out the games counting how many balls it took to reach a mb, and how many games they achieved MB like a pingolf goal, (since several of the goals are progressive) you may have had a more interesting distribution and had the semi final round you wanted prior to going straight to the final 4.

Just stuff to consider if you run that style again.

Anyway, I had fun nonetheless, and that is really the point of FLiPS.

Thanks for the event.
