Title: HELP! Konami Police 911/2 "Conversion Failed"
Post by: RAW POWER on January 06, 2013, 02:14:49 PM
Gang,

I'm working on a Police911/2. When you turn it on it starts it's self checks, then says "conversion failed", then reboots. It does this over and over again. This is a very nice low use machine. Owner had not turned it on for at least a year. It was working before. Game uses the Konami Viper system.

I read elsewhere that reseating the black dongle usually fixes this problem. It did not fix the problem in this unit.

Here is what I have done:
Reseated the dongle
Reseated sdcard
Reseated other connections to the viper board
Reflowed solder on dongle connector

Does anyone have any further recommendations?

Thank you!

does this game have a RTC chip? I had a Konami game that would just reboot (albeit different error message) but as it had not been used for a length of time, the battery died on the chip causing it to fail

911/2 is a neat game, good luck!!!!

It does have an RTC chip, which is likely bad too. I'm thinking this because o tried booting it without the dongle and it gave me an RTC error.

Hamster, anyone: can you burn these? I think you'll need to find the info to burn on it if I'm not mistaken. Of course, you would be compensated for your time.

Thanks!
