Overall a better auction than the last few in terms of numbers. Decent amount of games and a hell of a lot of drivers. Selection still pales to the 'good old days' of course, but going by recent standards this one was OK. On the video game side there were a few classics and a few things you don't see every day like a dedicated Quartet (haven't seen that since the 80s!).
Prices seemed to be up and down like always. Not sure what posses people to pay $1k+ for these damn multicades still, especially when other examples go for much lower. Of course it could be the shill here, but you still need 2 people to shill unless you got two people running up prices for some reason.
Personally didn't see anything I needed. I'm pretty much down to a very short list of stuff I need so no big suprise.
Was once again nice seeing everyone!
-
OMG! If those Pins weren't buybacks thats insane!!!!
Those just have to be buybacks.. just have to. The economy isn't that bad to let machines for that low.
-
shaq was 500-something, but not 135
-
Probably I guess, I was tired at that point, MM.
Six, according to Jim, that IJ4 was NOT a buy back!! Someone ran away with a decent price. Byt the end of all the charges it would of been about $3,000 to $3,200. Not sure though, Math is the last thing i want to do right now!
I took some pics too.....this one is my favorite.....
-
Mick also got some prices so we can confirm with him.
Hahaha that pic of Dan looks like something out of 'Little People, Big World'
-
I brought a friend of mine to look for his first arcade game. We were trying to find a cheap vertical jamma, but apparently everyone else wanted them... so the few choices available amounted to $150 for trash, or as much as $1200!?
He wound up with a nice Soul Calibur for $175. Monitor is bright, colors are good, slightly out of focus on some edges but cabinet is cosmetically complete and general good shape. As a bonus we found a working Street Fighter II boardset inside! Not sure anyone can beat that deal.
The only ones I was interested in were a couple Tempests (the dead one was very rough and the working one was too much $$).
-
Sean, it was good to see you again. Congrats on infecting a civilian!
-
Six, to answer your question, YES...many were buy backs. I can list if you want....?
-
that auction fucking sucked[shoulda stayed home]actually it was not bad and it was good seeing a few friendly faces,,,,,,
i did not win a bid on anything ???but thats pronely a good thing....
the reason why i say it sucked was because i dragged 2 jukes and 2 midway cabs up there along with some parts just to unload,,,well not one fucking thing sold for more than 15 bucks and that ass hole JR skipped my cabs and they never sold :'(
i did not buy 1 thing and i owed them like 70 bucks and they wanted to still charge me for the fees for the midway cabs.....
once i fixed my truck again i just drove away[they can keep the midway cabs]
did anyone else have a super day like me[still cant compare to spanks days]lol
-
Sounds like I didnt miss much.
-
Well my day was pretty good. I picked up a really nice Golden Tee 2004 for $250. I got it home and plays fine. Has a nice working dollar bill excepter and a bag of extra parts in side.
I also got a really nice cabinet that sort of looks like the 2005 gold tee cabinets. It has a 27" tri rez monitor in it. It is a ticket redemtion game. It has a computer and printer inside. It has to be the nicest cabinet I have ever seen at a auction and the best part is I got it for $50. It's call slider or something like that. No one must have ever played it because it is spotless.

Not bad, let me know if you need anything golden tee related. I got alot of shit left over.
-
I could use the golden tee boards to put in that nice cabinet I just got.

You told me you were going to make a MAME out of it!!!!! :D
-

Just let me know, I got alot of stuff GT related and I just sold a nice GT 05 tourny for 1k easily so they can be profitable if your wanting to resale.

I know I was just talking to Thomas and he said the same thing that I should make it a mame.

Sorry about your day, sounds like nothing worked out at all...

Another deal-of-the-day candidate... I didn't stay long enough for that.
By the way, based on the number of driving games there I have to imagine they all went for low prices or were mostly buybacks.
-
It was a long day for me. As always, at auctions I kinda have A.D.D....like I do when I host a party...I'll find myself get an idea to go check something out or say hi to someone, and then get sidetracked and run into someone else and start talking to them...and then I remember my initial plan...and I sometimes simply just walk away from whoever I'm talking to! So, sorry if I have done this to anyone! You have to understand the mind of Batman is always multi tasking. :)
Also like at a party, I never seem to chat to everyone for very long, just try to chat a little bit with everyone. I think I saw most everyone, just a few people I missed: Charlie L... apparently you're not large enough or THAT easy to spot since I somehow managed to miss you; Steve/ Militia Man... I was chatting with Doug Titus and on the way to say hi to you...and got sidetracked and that was that. Will have to just meet you next time! If Ken/ megaslacker was there I totally missed you, nobody mentioned they saw you and I certainly forgot to look for you. And...Jack/ Robin? WTF??? You're SUPPOSED to be at my side at these crimefighting things, or at least two steps behind me, like that sweet Def Leppard ballad. I shoulda just left you in the circus all those years ago, you little brat.
On to the games...I wasn't TOO shocked by the pins, prices seemed alright, no big steals. The IJ4 that ended up at $3,200 after fees...so? That seems about right for that pin. I was a little surprised/ saddened by the low price the Mousin Around got since I love mine, but it was pointed out that the one at the auction wasn't working/ booting OR in as nice as condition as the one I sold, and nowhere near the one I have still. But I still love the game so always surprised it gets no love. The 2 Gottlieb pins I was surprised anyone mildly interested didn't pick them up, I thought Hollywood Heat looked the nicer of the 2, but for $50 that's ridiculous. Hell, I threw a manual in there for free, which apparently could be worth about 1/3 of what the game sold for. But also pointed out it had a few issues and needed a ramp that was missing...so who knows. Even dirt cheap they didn't interest me. I looked at the Simpsons DE pin and thought it looked nice, and I think I actually like that one more than TSPP... but still don't like Simpsons so not interested in that anyway, but thought it went for a cheap price. I thought the Captain Fantastic looked...well, fantastic and a nice restore. Not PERFECT, but very nice nonetheless. But still not enough interest in that either, or the EM's. The end of the pin row was disappointing since there was a stretch of about 4-5 pins that didn't boot up for whatever reasons, and not even playfield glasses on them. I won't mention the Kiss too much, other than you can't just paint over a turd (and leave the masking tape still on there!). Still a POS that was very worn. A pin in that condition was no WAY gonna have a mint BG on it that would have sold for $1,500, and sure as hell not at an auction either. I'll call the BS card on that one also.
With the vids, the only thing that interested my old school ass was the working Tempest. It was nice to at least play a few games on a dedicated machine. I never played it much when I was younger, not sure if it's because it was too challenging (which I definitely WANT that kind of game now), or just didn't like it. I was thinking maybe it would make me dizzy if I played it too much, since I get motion sickness going around and around in circles. Anyway, I re-discover that Jocko has great taste in games, seems to be the same taste in me as we both share a few similar games: Defender, Black Hole...and... OK, well it seems that's it but we were both thinking about the Tempest I guess. Glad we didn't start bidding against each other. I figured I'd win it by bidding maybe something crazy like $300, maybe even a little more since it worked nicely and looked very good with only a few minor issues. So...$300 whizzed by real fast. I think this was the biggest shock of the day, that it sold for $675...PLUS the fees. So, $800+ for a Tempest? Who's smoking what? Jeez, that' REALLY a bit out of whack IMO... but I haven't priced or been searching for Tempests so who knows what they normally go for. There was one a month ago with some monitor issues that sold for $400. This was really the only game I saw that I had interest in and that I thought might fit into my lineup, but not to be. Not a big deal, I'm retired and out of space anyway. After that auction (which was about 15 minutes after I got there), my bidding was over for the day so just tried to relax and hang out with everyone as much as I could.
Overall, it seems there was typically a lot of stuff that went higher than it should have for some reason, I thought the nicer pins were a little high also but that's just probably because I had no interest in them and would pay those prices for them. The ONLY pin I think I played was by far the nicest one at the auction, which was Curly's / soon to be mine No Fear. Very nice looking and playing pin! The other ones I've played were in piss poor condition so it was nice to play a nice one.
But...by FAR the biggest surprise and shock of the day that trumped ANY of the game sales was the fact that Spanks got there!!!! You guys thought MY adventures were insane, nobody can top Spanks. I bow my cowl to you.
-
Vid prices continued
Jack feel free to add to yours and move it around as you need
In not particular order, as I just had a pocket full of pieces of paper :D
prices added to main list - thanks six
some deals if you really wanted specific titles, but rest were crazy prices, oh well.... ???
-
shit I wouldve jumped on those GT completes.
-
The reason the prices were nutty is there were 2 new faces at the auction buying everything.
There was Ann, from Land O' Lakes, who is opening a new Family Entertainment Center, and was buying all those games for said FEC.
And Milton, from Deland (and apparently involved with CiCi's Pizza, I know who brought him.
I felt really bad for these people...They clearly had no idea the number of sharks that were circling them, and also had no idea they were being shilled on every single game. The Wyvern Wings is a perfect example of why you should know who's bidding you up.
The sad part is they are gonna end up with a bunch of broken games, and probably be out of money, because people rarely figure in the cost of games repair in an initial startup.
Also, to both noobs...QUIT DRINKING WHEN YOU SPEND MONEY!!! How dumb is that? Alcohol Impaires your judgement, (unless your Hutch, where Alcohol keeps you going) I wouldn't be surprised if those beers were bought by said sharks (they know who they are) to keep the money flowing foolishly.
I gave Ann my # for service...bout all I can do.
-Dan
-
yeah the GT Completes were a great deal considering the prices of some of the 04, 05 machines, usually the completes brought a much higher price, either people didnt know the difference, or the game has now fallen out of favor.
-

Actually I've added quite a few of your games to my short list, just lacking in the seemingly endless amount of gaming space you possess.
Atari Jim claims he sold his far superior Tempest at half that price in the not-so-distant past which sounds a bit closer to reality. I think the owner helped bid it up.

They have dropped in price just like everything else but the guy that bought my GT 05 was asking about the Complete and was willing to pay 2k for it. Around here I get em all the time wanting an 05 or a complete its just hard to get a deal on a complete upgrade though I do have a hookup on that as well.
-
Murfee that $50 machine needs to be a MAME, would be so easy to build one, especially with that nice tri-res ;D
-
It was not the best of auctions, but was good to see everyone. Glad to see spanks made it after getting a taxi, that is determination. The best part of this auction was I get a month off because of it. After buying a cab for the hell of it (parts), I proceeded to move it without asking for help. I then quickly learned the true meaning of gravity when my dolly flew out and the cab fell on my foot. After getting to the ER at 9 p.m., cab fell on me at 5 p.m., I found out I have a broken foot. 1 month off on the couch, and 2 games in my buddies garage, as he proceeded to smash my pinkie before I went to ER. All and all was a good time though.
Jason
-
Wow Jason that sucks!
See ya at the next auction. ;D
-
Sorry to hear that Jason, sucks, take it easy :)
-
Just walked through the door and kissed the floor.
I am so happy to be home. Had to stop 4 times, the little one puked 3 times and witnessed a car go over the k-rail on the side of the turnpike. Tab is a nurse and helped, Thank God no one was hurt.
Auction was too wierd this time. And for the two new buyers, I agree that you should do more reasearch before buying, but drinking. I feel no pity. I wish I could get a list of her "Buys" and the auction fees. Make me feel better. I wish them all the luck.
It was great seeing everyone, had a blast with Leon and his boy. Thanks again Mrpinball, going to drink a few more tonight.

Anyone know the condition and going price of that neon air hockey?
-
Anyone get that ghost and goblins? I was a little depressed I missed it but at the same time it was a dedicated cab also it seemed like the only of interest for me. So I guess it wasnt that bad that I didnt go. The next one I hope to make it too.
-
NO, thank you MOJO_114 the parts you brought me will help out alot :)

That game needed a lot of TLC, even the monitor.

That's the most f&#$ed up idea of a good time I ever heard! I hope you feel better soon, Jason. Damn, I feel the pain just reading it.
Jim, glad you and your family got home safe... that's also very scary sounding with the accident. Hope the little one is feeling better also.

shaq was 500-something, but not 135
Hey was that my old Shaq? What was the hammer price on it? Did it still have that sticky brown packing tape residue on the sides of the backbox?
-
Anyone know if that Pole Position cockpit worked or not? I'm betting for $70 it was dead but if I missed a working board set for $70 I'm going to be pissed :-\.
It was good meeting the few guys that I met. Maybe next time I'll meet a few more of you...
-t
-
TimothyC
I have 3 sets of PP boards if you need any :)
-
That Shaq was fairly worn. The pricing is listed on the first page of this thread. The Pole Position had a board problem.
-
no, no, no, the Shaq at the auction was mojo's, no wear that I saw.
(leon needs new glasses:)
If the Shaq Ken had went to Herman, then Mick, then ME, I still have it, and i haven't yet cleaned the packing tape off the back of the head yet.

WTF? He was standing right next to me when I was TRYING to play it and the right flipper was sticking, and I was bitching and bitching... You COULD have fixed the thing, even I can do that one...jeez! Shame, shame... :)

-

im sorry i think i had about 75 bucks a piece.............
i woulda just gave the things away to someone who needed them

A couple of observations about the auction ...
1. Most of what you all have said has been right on ... newbie buyers, crazy prices, Wyvern Wings for $410.00 ??!!?? WTF !!!
2. It was nice to see a few gals at the auction ... even if they were buying everything up and drinking all the beer.
3. It was great to finally meet many of you. I'll catch the rest of you in June as long as I don't have a kingfish tourney that weekend.
4. I hate it when I leave the auction with nothing ... but then I remembered I got some Defender stencils from Brian and a Gorf joystick in money condition from Bill. You guys rock !!!
5. All in all ... never a bad way to spend the day!
Steve

I read the line about the KISS backglass going for $1500 and went to the closet that my KISS BG lives in and thought: Geeze, is that auctioneer blowing seriously silly smoke up our back passage or might I figure out how to turn my Pristine glass into anywhere near that kind of cash???
Is a clean/perfect one realistically worth over $500??

"Is a clean/perfect one realistically worth over $500??"
I can't imagine it is, but you never know. I would think the going rate for an entire Kiss pin in very nice shape would be $1k- $1,500 max...but again, you never know.

That comment was more than likely for the noobs. He was keeping the water chummed so to speak.

Well it was an auction that keeps on giving. After breaking my foot at the auction, smashing my finger unloading, it is now confirmed I am out of work for next 4-8 weeks. I had just max'd my vacation at work and now have to dig in. Worst part are my games are at my buddies and I am laid up on ocuch without anything to work on. Doc says no walking for 10-14 days and after a lap around Wal Mart I agree with the doctor. If there was every a time to think I should have bought a laptop, it is now. I am wearing a suit of armor to auction.

Well just be glad your foot should be fine for the next auction, adn in teh mean time trips to publix and walmart will have to be made in there little scooters
-
And...Jack/ Robin? WTF??? You're SUPPOSED to be at my side at these crimefighting things, or at least two steps behind me, like that sweet Def Leppard ballad. I shoulda just left you in the circus all those years ago, you little brat.
Hey I checked in like a good junior crime fighter, but there were some inconsequential / minor villians that needed rustling and I felt it was time to set off on my own.

It always bad to see somebody ripped apart like that, HOWEVER.. this isn't the olden days any longer. The internet is your friend, do some research beforehand or you get what you deserve.
I did see the CiCis Scion. Do they manage their own games or something? I know every CiCis has a game or two, some redemption, etc.

Anyone get that ghost and goblins? I was a little depressed I missed it but at the same time it was a dedicated cab also it seemed like the only of interest for me. So I guess it wasnt that bad that I didnt go. The next one I hope to make it too.
On the Ghost and Goblins you were basically buying the Marquee and the PCB as that's all it was. A really shoddy cabinet with no other artwork that I saw. I know G/G is a popular / collectible game, but is just the PCB and Marquee worth $200? I can't imagine you couldn't find it cheaper on eBay so no big loss.

First rule of auctions, never believe the auctioneer.

That really, really sucks man! 4-8 weeks is a looooong time. :(

Yeah? Well, you thought wrong! When you weren't there to protect him, look what happened...Jason got hurt! It's all fun and games until someone gets hurt!

i did not buy 1 thing and i owed them like 70 bucks and they wanted to still charge me for the fees for the midway cabs.....
once i fixed my truck again i just drove away[they can keep the midway cabs]
i was waiting to bid on both of those cabs, they never got auctioned, i assumed i missed them?

i picked up Frogger (for the wife), and got it up and running with a little tweaking, and a quick fix of a broken sound pot. so i was happy with that purchase. the only people selling frogger down here want over $700.00 for it in fair condition.
i also got tank 2, not so good with that one so far. i had the board fixed, but the game won't take credits through any method (well, it takes them, no reaction on the CRT, looking like a board issue, but i don't have a clue about this Kee game setup), so it may go back to the June auction...lol. glad i found this website, KLOV is too cluttered to find Florida specific information.
-
It was me you were bidding against on that Tank2 so if you don't want to deal with it contact me :)
-
i thought for 1 minute to do a conversion to tank ii, but that's not right to do to a 1974 atari / kee game.
i've been away from messing around with arcade games for about 2 years until recently, when i was going to move, and sold what i had at that time. but i'm back now, and way too quickly i've picked up 6 games, but only room for about 4 total. ha ha ha.
-
That's really just crappy about the midway cabinets. I'm suprised they would do that!
-
"....but only room for about 4 total. "
Yeah, same with ALL of us. Good luck with that!
-
i'll build an addition to the house, or throw an air conditioned shed in the backyard. they WILL have a home ;D.
they're in the garage right now. i may put up some frames and paneling, and start building the tiniest arcade room ever. 5 games in a room that will be 10.1 ft wide, 3 feet deep, 6 feet tall :).

just wanted to post that today i got a good chuckle when i got the mail....
as most know i took a bunch of junk up to unload and it all sold for next to nothing and they skipped my 2 midway cabs and i left verry pissed of... ???
well they sent me a check for 6.44 and a note that they waived all the entry fee's but 1...LMFAO.. :)
so after selling 7 things and 2 being skiped and waive all but 1 entry fee i made 6 dollers and 44 cents..what a F%$#ing joke :D

the 2 midway cabinets that i would have purchased had they been auctioned in the proper rotation...damn it.
sad. sell on here, for more value with less headaches. on that note, anyone planning on running a taito cabinet or elevator action up in June can save their time and just tell me where you live for some quick cash.
