The 2 games I hate most are Maverick and Viper Night Driving.

Both are boring, both i've walked away from with balls still in play.

Popeye gets a lot of votes usually and I agree it also does suck but I give it some points for trying something different (although not being able to see the ball most of the time isn't exactly a good kind of different)

Yeah agree with Jack, Popeye and Viper Night Driving are terrible, I think we played these at TPF and they were just painful, and they put them next to each other :P

Also Big Buck Hunter was not much fun, and another I did not like, those three are the most memorable for being the worst :D

popeye. bally.  :)

I dislike almost every game where the ball goes missing for periods of time.

a ton of honorable mentions, I can't stand them and they're top 15 machines. :P I trust my tastes more.

Hey Dan, don't you have a Popeye? Popeye would probably be high on my list as the worst game ever made, but I remember playing Bugs Bunny in Vegas, and it was really bad. Bad enough to walk away from. Big Buck Hunter didn't do anything for me either. I guess to qualify as worst a came would either have to play really badly, be laid out poorly, or make you think why did they even make this turd.

Really?  This surprises me.

I like this game in tourneys.  The first trick is a short plunge to stay away from that left loop to right outlane drain.

The game really encourages flipper skills and techniques. Tap passes, stop on a dime drop catches and dead passes

But, hey, if you are not diggin' it, I understand :)

Edit ha, left off the "not" above

avengers surprises me. unless the pro is a turd.

swe1 isn't bad, but very VERY repetitive for the long haul.

I really dislike data east simpsons. :)

the top 20 in red are one's I wouldn't want to own:

1. Twilight Zone by Bally have owned 2.
2.   Theatre of Magic by Bally never owned, but played enough to know.
3. Medieval Madness. have owned. only reason it's not #1 here anymore is probably the re-release. fickle people...lol.
4.  Star Trek: The Next Generation .have owned 2.
5. Monster Bash by Williams
6.  White Water by Williams. don't want to own, but understand it more as I watch good players play it.
7.  The Addams Family by Bally.
8. Indiana Jones: The Pinball Adventure .have owned.
9.  Tales of the Arabian Nights by Williams
10.  Creature from the Black Lagoon by Bally .
11.  Scared Stiff by Bally. crate, ramp crate. I still like it. :)
12.  Cirqus Voltaire
13. Attack from Mars by Bally
14. Spider-Man by Stern. only good stern on this list.
15. The Lord of the Rings can I double layer the RED here?
16. Funhouse by Williams. scares the wife = winner.
17.  Cactus Canyon by Bally. only played one example, but fun.
18.  Bram Stoker's Dracula by Williams. great game.
19.  The Getaway: High Speed II. have owned. boring.
20. Judge Dredd by Bally. no.
21.  No Good Gofers  . and I actually still own this one...lol.
22. The Simpsons Pinball Party by Stern
23.  Disney TRON Legacy by Stern
24. Star Trek (Starfleet Pro) by Stern
25. The Shadow by Bally double RED on this one too.

Chris, wait.  These are top twenty good pins or bad?
Title: Re: What was the worst pinball machine ever and who made it?
Post by: micksimmonds on March 21, 2015, 01:38:08 PM
Chris's listed could be viewed both ways :D

to one person, could be a top 20 of the best games ever, to another its a bland same ole list of titles :P

everyone has an opinion and that makes it interesting, I agree with the list and lots of titles on there that I would play once just to say 'I played it' but after that I would walk away

Swords Of Fury (blech) I'd rather play ANY EM. RBG runs a close second.

my list is the current "Top 25" from IPDB.

12 of those 25, in my warped opinion, are worth owning. and even some of those I wouldn't bother with. :)

in all fairness, I thought medieval was a "keep up with the jones's" title...'til I owned it. then I got it. :P

you have to decide what you like. screw the masses...lol.

Avengers Pro is pretty rough, but then I played a Premium and was impressed with how much better it was.

SWE1 is on my "awful" list... the repetitiveness is mind-numbing.  Same goes for RFM.

I'm not a pin guy and would largely chose a pin based on theme (except for World Cup Soccer as that pin is crazy fun in spite of the theme), but I was really disappointed after playing TZ at one of Curly's parties a few years ago.  Like most sane people I love the old shows and therefore should want the pin, but it just didn't seem like a lot of fun for whatever reason.  Granted I didn't play more than a couple games and I'm a terrible player, but still...

Kinda funny reading all the comments regarding SWE1 as I used to stop by the Longwood Fun machine on the way home from work sometimes back in the early 2000's just to play it and the Shaq pin next to it :P.  I don't think I've played either title since though and will probably keep it that way so I'll remember them fondly ;D

You might find a TZ out there that you enjoy playing. Pinball machines are weird like that-the same exact titles do not all play the same way.

Like any game, the setup and feeds can really make or break a pin.  Right off the bat on TZ, the ball immediately ejects to the right flipper from the slot machine or is rocketed across to the pops which are also a dangerous feed.  More often than not players shoot for the slot machine feed as it "should" be more reliable.

If the slot machine feed is erratic or sends the ball SDTM, the game play of TZ suffers greatly and the game can be over before it is ever started since every new ball starts the same way.

I have no idea how that particular game was set up, but I have played games I thought were terrible because of a few bad adjustments. Played a properly adjusted game and changed my mind.

The TZ game is a lot of fun and hits on the theme great.

I played a Gottlieb Barbed Wire recently. Probably the worst machine I've ever played. Granted I haven't played as many pins as allot of you guys. I didn't even finish my game.

Yeah you haven't played enough Gottliebs then. They get much, much worse than that :)

I don't disagree, a game that is dialed in, working well, responsive, plays so much differently/better than others that are not.  In fact, I rarely play any titles I own, anywhere else.  I like to think mine are tuned in fairly good, and it is very disappointing when a pop or sling is playing crappy, or lights are out, or stuff just is not working.  One reason playing games in the wild can suck royal.

Amazingly, since nobody's mentioned It yet, I'll say it.  Copied from the sports forum: "F##k you, Ravens!".

You get the idea.

For it is the two player Space Odyssey or four player Space Mission. Simply hate the two kick out holes right by the flippers, too easy to trap and eject balls back and fourth, BORING!!

Those Williams kickers back in the day was a fun idea especially on Darling/Jubilee.  I guess I'll toss in my little 2 cents, Atari Hercules. Nice big game, looks like fun, but its way too slow, the flippers are always weak, hardly any action. This game needs a complete playfield redesign.
