How young is too young for starwars?
wife gettin on me about him making shooting sounds disrespectfully
but i think its something he picked up from daycare..
He will be 3 in late Oct. Granted we have been watching original trilogy tgther and I bought him a lightsaber but c'mon right? Oh, and how young is too young for the theater? Force awakens! Want to take him but..

Start now. It's only sounds ;D

Who didn't make shooting sounds disrespectfully when they were 3?

My kid will be three in September and it was a disaster this past weekend taking him to his first movie, Minions. Once he saw the games out front before the movie that was all he could think about so he wouldn't hold still. After 15 or 20 minutes of pissing the people behind us off (understandably) we called it quits and left. I was hoping to take my son to SW too, but given how the first try turned out I think I'll pass on that ;). Of course I think it has a lot to do with the child as my son won't hold still other than the first few minutes after waking up. After that it's go, go, go ;)

Maybe trying to explain what a movie theatre is and what's expected before going, let it sink in a few days. Then asking if he could be a big boy able to sit quietly to watch with others. Otherwise, he is staying home, and your going without him. Parenting is a challenge, as nothing works the same way each time, its always changing. You just need to keep trying to find something that works or you can live with. GLWTS. Lol

what about starting off at the dollar shows first. then it wont be so bad walking out.

Some places have screenings during the day where you're meant to bring young kids. They don't blast the volume so much, and turn the lights down but not completely off so people can more easily take crying kids out to calm them down. They're usually called "Daddy & Me" or "Mommy & Me" screenings.

Thats a great idea, everyone has to start somewhere and what a good way to get kids into the movie experience, yes also comes down to the parenting to encourage the child to sit, behave ,but anything that helps that and gives them the experience has got to be good :D

Well you don't go to them if you don't have kids.
The main issue is that the parents who are thoughtful enough to go to those screenings aren't the ones causing problems in the first place. It's the dipshits who bring infants to a midnight showing of a loud movie on opening night.

jake walks around the house planning on ways to do fatalities. I'm probably not allowed to comment here. :)

Kids of all ages have been playing army or fighting type stuff for hundreds of years. It's part of being a little boy really. I had army men and a mattel star bird when i was that age.. I ran around my back yard pew pew pewing at everything right alongside all my friends. We played star trek, pretend phasering each other.. a young imagination is a wonderful thing, let kids have it.. It's usually adults that put more serious thoughts in there than the kids have. The kid just hears pew pew, not omg political message!

Amen to that.
If I could go back I would!

Then again, after tonight's shooting...I'll just wait to see it on my own screens.

Thanks for all the replies
I can feel better about bring the toy light sabers out of time out now!
Thursday he bit a kid at school. I talked to him. But deep inside I am glad he is standing up for himself as he is younger than most the other kids. Thanks again

Just tell the teachers that if the kids are within biting range, they are too close to him and should give him more space! (and maybe brush the teeth after every bite can't hurt)
-
Ha! I like it

The Star Wars series presents some very good messages about honor, justice, and doing the right thing even when faced with the easy road (the Dark Side!), all within the framework of being a valiant hero. Copious amounts of laser sounds could be part of that play. Buy him ten lightsabers and capitalize.

You could. .. but who's going to watch the kid while you sleep?
