Title: Sweet Deal on a Pretty Good Vodka
Post by: mcluvin on August 19, 2017, 05:44:55 PM
The local Publix Liquor store has a $3 off manufacturer's coupon for Sobieski Vodka in this week's ad.  I bought some last week and was surprised at how good it was, especially  considering the price, so I went back to get another bottle.  They were out and commented that it sold out very quickly.  Total Wine also sells it and in fact at a much cheaper price ($11.99 for a 1.75 liter bottle).  They also take manufacturer's coupons.  This vodka is a steal at $8.99 for the big bottle.

Is it good enough to drink it on the rocks with no mixer?

Reading the reviews, I believe so.  I do not normally drink vodka that way.  Let me give it a shot.  Hang on!  I can tell you it does not give me a nasty headache when I have a bit too much.

Ok, straight vodka (small shot glass with some crushed ice in it) is still not my preferred way of drinking it, but I did not find it awful.  It was drinkable and I would say no worse than Kirkland French Vodka, at least to my untrained palate.  Oh yeah, they have some in packages with free shot glasses.  Those are the same price as the plain bottle.

Well I don't blame her, but at least it doesn't come in a plastic bottle.  My Total Wine only had one shot glass kit left.  Glad you like it.

So apparently a case of this is half just bottles and the other half come with the free shot glasses.  Scored a couple more today.  The shot glasses are kinda cool.

Great call...I paid $16 for the 1.75 at Walgreens (would have been $8 in gas to drive to total wine) Very nice as a shot and outstanding with tonic and lemon...Absolut is no longer my go to.

Now that I like it they will stop carrying it, just like they did my beloved Blackheart.  :(

Well $16 is still better than $20 which is what I was paying for the Kirkland stuff.  I was pretty shocked to find it at $18 at my local Wal-Mart liquor store.  I figured it would have been cheaper.  The coupon is good until the end of the month.  I am already well stocked, but gonna keep at it.  Winter is coming ya know....

Was in the area and grabbed a couple more today since the coupon expires tomorrow.  Cashier was a supervisor and didn't bat an eye at multiple coupons on the same transaction.  She said $11.99 was a temp price reduction in response to a competitor's sale, and is actually less than their cost.  I figure it was probably a comp to the Publix sale.  They just didn't anticipate the coupon not being store specific and creating an awesome double dip.
