Cool looking, not many games really, no pins.  It's more retro themed cool looking place than a place to actually play games. Some fun drinks, it gets stupid crowded on weekends.

Really find their other concept bar Cocktails and Screams to be better, more cozy and better drinks.

I wonder how Exidy will take it someone creating a bar with the same name...

exactly who i thought of.

you can't trademark that, though. probably 1000+ DBAs (doing business as aliases) around the USA.

just like you can't trademark Flynn's. :)

tell that to the "b a r c a d e" trademark ... Several people have gotten "C&D" for using the term to describe their business.

I asked him about it when this place first announced.   As I understand it, the 1-Up is trademark protected in CO but not nationally or in any other state.   And it doesn't look like anyone will confuse them anyway with the Orlando place looking like it's a theme bar, rather than a true gamer pub.

This..  it's just a bar with a retro theme, not an arcade.

so they're doing cease and desist letters to people who use the hashtag #barcade? good luck with that. :P

https://www.yelp.com/search?find_desc=Barcade&find_loc=Fort+Lauderdale%2C+FL&start=40

are they gonna sue YELP?

timex sent me a "cease and desist" when i used INDIGLO as a description, on car parts i was selling years ago, thru eBay.

i emailed them back: "sue me? let's see how that goes in the court of public opinion. your lawyers can shove this
C&D letter up all of their collective asses
".

never heard from them again. :P

Still so many events use comic con in their name.  They don't do anything with it.  They just want to make sure no event grows as big as theirs and uses that same name, but hundreds of comic cons over the US and they don't lift a finger cause it's just local events.

Maybe on the really small ones but anything in a decent sized city you'll notice became comic conventions, otherwise they gotta pay a fee.

ie the Tampa Comic Con is now the Tampa Comic Convention
