Just had to go through a buyer dispute with PayPal due to some 19yo kid in California saying I sent him a damaged Neo Geo multi-cartridge. PayPal decided to side with him instead of me, even though it was clearly sold as-is, but was working fine when it left my hands. I'd suggest not selling anything to arcadenova on Ebay, aka Sebastian Saldana, aka Ramon Garcia. Yeah, two names associated with his PayPal and Ebay account.
As for PayPal, I've sent them a rather lengthy letter detailing the faults in their lack-of-findings and demanded they re-investigate the case. I have a feeling I'll be permanently closing my PayPal account soon here if they're going to side with kids over common sense reasoning.
-
i wish you the best >:(
-
That sucks man... GL.
-
yet again the buyer wins wins with ebay, he gets the item, refund and screws you, this happened to batman, and I think the buyers know how to play it now, sorry to hear that, and hope you get it back in your favor
-
It's funny you mention that Mick, I have a small update. PayPal is having the person ship it back to me, but having that person pay for it. PayPal won't give them the money back until I receive the item. That's the only good thing that's come out of this so far. I'm a frickin PayPal Advantage member (spend more than $5000 through them per year), but that obviously means nothing to them even though they say they side with Advantage members and provide better service. Uh huh. ???
-
he can ship anything back to you, an empty box, as long as he has proof of shipping and its received back to you, thats good enough for paypal, so whilst you might get something back, they will get a refund and money back and all he is out is cost of shipping, been there and lost out like that, and as they have proof its back to his word/your word, never a win win for you with ebay/paypal I think >:(
-
I hear ya. I did a search on his Ebay id as well as feedback. He hasn't even been on Ebay for two years and has already received a few negatives. Go figure...I'm just going to post up here the rest of my stuff I was going to put on Ebay. I probably won't get as much as I want for most of them, but at least I know you guys are cool to deal with. Look for a for sale thread from me sometime within the next 2-3 weeks. I've been having to sell a bunch of things due to some sudden vet and medical bills we had to incur over the past 7 weeks. That's never fun.
-
sorry to hear that, and can sympathise with you on that, hope all gets better for you, and that :)
-
Thanks man. Almost bounced back. Had to throw the whole tax return at it too.
-
Pretty much the exact same thing happened to Dangerwil with some boards (worth around $200-$300 I think). He got totally screwed in that deal and canceled his paypal right afterward. It wasn't such a bad deal then but since ebay is trying to make it so you can only do transactions with via paypal it is much more limiting now.
-
Honestly, I can live without Ebay if I have to. It's more of a bad habit that leaves a bad taste in my mouth the more I use it anyway. My wife and I buy most of our stuff of Amazon and Newegg these days. And having the Amazon Prime shipping helps out a lot.
-
i'll get you all your money back no matter what. too much to discuss to type it all out.
:)
i've been a paypal bronze/silver/gold, and plain old bitch member over the years, all depends on what you sell. they don't care, you just get answers faster when you phone them with your bronze/silver/gold special code and paypal direct phone number.
paypal/eBay has some really neat stuff that you'll never know about unless you really lay into them via a phone call. i'm surprised i don't have a restraining order against me coming within 1000 feet of a paypal employee with some of my phone conversations with them. selling laptops on eBay really sucks, but i've learned some good defensive tricks from past scam attempts.
-
So the only way to to do legitimate business via eBay/Paypal you have to lay into them on the phone for every little transaction gone awry?
Honestly I can see why eBay has it set up this way... they just feel it's too expensive to hire people to do the validations. Maybe they need to set up a dispute center to be the intermediary for customer returns...e.g., customer returns item to an eBay address who verifies the item in person. I don't know how else it gets done? If it's big items like furniture, etc, that may not work so well, but at least if a buyer is returning a dresser or pinball machine, there is validation on the size/type of item via the shipper.

he has no choice. the cash is currently locked up thru paypal, and once paypal gets a valid track number, kid gets his money back (if he ships a rock, paypal will say "FILE A POLICE REPORT, WE DON'T GET INVOLVED...".
we've PM'd back and forth, he has the tools he needs to get his money. if not, i'll call paypal with his info and get it for him. it has to wait a couple of days, though...

What a corker that kid with a bunch of names is.

California is one state I have never been ripped off in, and probably won't either.
I had a problem with a $200 naomi motherboard between myself and a guy in Bakersfield a few years ago. I bought the motherboard, and he sent me an old pc motherboard instead. When I disputed, he gave paypal the reciept and they sided with him. I called my cousin Arthur who happens to live about 10 min from Bakersfield, and he grabbed 4 other guys into the pickup and went to the guys house with a polite request to turn over my money, my motherboard, or several fingers. The guy was kind enough to hand over the money.
;)

P.S. I have approx 40 cousins in Cali.

Very cool of you to help another board member with this. You've earned 2.75 Awesome points ;D
-
:) that puts me at negative 212. sweet!
i hope inmyrem can work this out. eBay believes that "most people are good". i believe that "most people at eBay suck".
could be an honest problem, but multiple negatives sets a bad trend. we'll see once inmyrem get's his multicart back. too easy to swap guts on one of those.

The scams are endless, don't even get me started with Ebay and their stupidity and customer resolutions.
Here's a few interesting scams I've heard, to consider when selling:
Circuit boards- send a board, they claim defective and get their money back, they send you back their OLD/ broken board, NOT the one you sent
Baseball/ football cards- send a mint 10.0 ______rookie card, they claim not as described, they send you back a grade 2.0 card worth hundreds/ thousands less, if you get ANY card back at all (i.e. you send a Honus Wagner, they send back a Omar Vizquel card that came at the bottom of a Cheerios box)... their word against yours, as they're the buyer, Ebay says they're always right. YOU could be the one who switched the cards when you got your mint 10.0 back, right?
I've quit Ebay, will never sell ANYTHING there again, too much to type...again. Also quit Paypal. Both assume you're guilty until proven....well, even if you have PROOF they STILL don't care, buyer is always right. So, unless it's an item you don't mind GIVING away, don't bother. And if you're giving it away, why bother with all the time to list, sell, go to post office to send, dispute scam? Save yourself the time and stress, let EBAY die off.
-
i agree with all jeff says, except for me, eBay is a necessary evil. have to sell laptops somewhere. :)
the one thing i hate...if i sell a $10.00 item, i'll have a bitchy buyer and several "waa waa" problems. if i sell a $20,000 car, i have no issue. :P it never f-ing fails...
i hate paypal. i hate how eBay rakes in money by providing an online flea market. both companies are ridiculous, but successful.
i sold a laptop. guy opened it up, and took my LCD and my motherboard (i mark some internal components and take pics before i ship, and use tamperproof void when removed serial labels). he says it's dead, shipped it back, and i took the returned laptop and showed proof to eBay of what had occured, but they found in buyer's favor (didn't tell me why). the money that was held in limbo went back to my account after i called them up on it. that buyer had 99% positive feedback, with a score of over 3000 +. don't trust anybody.

Yea people suck!
A good friend of mine has a big biz selling marine parts online, mostly via Ebay
last year he got burned big time on a rebuilt power head he sold,2200 bucks plus shiping that was around 250.00.
well right before the 30 day mark the guy opens a dispute and says the motor overheats and wont run right.
well affter going back and forth my bud pays to get the piece picked up and shiped back and paypal refunds the money
right away, when he got it back it was the guys blown up power head that he painted black to look like the one he got new/rebuilt.
well he had to spend hours and hours on the phone and file a police report and show all knds of proof and pay his lawyer to file paper work and at the end of it all paypal refunded some of his money back but he was still out around 900 bucks.
He no longer sells rebuilt motors on Ebay only sell's used parts and new parts and only makes big deals outside of Ebay via
his web site or over the phone.

Update for anyone interested. I received my money back this evening. The kid never responded back to PayPal after they sent him an e-mail saying they decided in his favor. He was given a week and a half to reply that he had sent the item back and provide a tracking number. He never did. My guess is he couldn't be bothered to waste his own time to pack it up and ship it back, then wound up losing his claim. Thankfully, since he didn't respond and the time limit expired, the case is closed and cannot be reopened.
Also, due to PayPal's siding with a 19yo kid using his dad's PayPal account and only been active for a year on Ebay and PayPal, I've decided to only use PayPal if I absolutely have to.
Thanks for your advice Chris. I'm glad I didn't have to use it. I will keep it handy though. ;)

congrats on the win

I apologize for churning up this thread, but I wanted to let you guys know the guy I mentioned is now on KLOV as cbass. Be very wary of buying anything from him or selling anything to him. Someone sent me a message last night that I just read, pointing me to his posting. I was also pointed to another person who was just ripped off on Ebay by him. Did the exact same thing to the guy, except he left negative feedback on that guy. Again, sorry for bumping this up. Just want to make sure the Florida guys don't get duped! :)
-
Thanks for the heads up - I'll stay away from him. I don't know why people have to do crap like that to others....There used to be a time when people stood behind their words and honored their comittments.
-
his user name warns people right away. Carl Beeotch - CB ass.

I just had a 0 bidder buy a laptop then not pay. Freakin' ebay can't block 0 bidders, had to give the dick 4 days before i could file a non-paying bidder then another 4 days to pay. At least it wasn't as nasty at this guy though.. more of a time waster than anything. It's a shame ebay has gotten this way.. it's always had problems but it's really gone to crap last few years, especially with their new 'buyer is always right' policies.
-
Jack, I recently had someone like that as well. The only good thing which comes of the wait time is if the person doesn't pay, you receive a credit on Ebay towards the winning price and you get to keep your item. However, in my situation, the asshat paid a few hours before the time limit was up! Had to wait almost 8 extra days before I could receive the money from selling the item. On top of that, actually had to wait a few extra days to transfer the money from PayPal to my bank account. It's definitely not fun selling on Ebay anymore, but I've been having to lately.

i can spin tales day and night about laptops and ebay and 0 feedback bidders and shipping to foreign countries.
necessary pain in the assbay.
there is no good thing about a non-paying bidder. you get no money, you get final value fees back after 10 days, you can't relist your item for @ 10 days, you even lose 2nd chance offers, because no one waits 9 days to get that 2nd chance offer. and usually, the high bidder bids with a minute left, then disappears. you can even see the noobie bidding on $100,000 worth of product the week he signs up to ebay. F*** ebay, F*** 0 feedback asshats, F*** paypal, F*** craigslist...ok, back to eBay ;)
oh, i forgot to mention...eBay's fraud department? it consists of 1 dude.

the number one rule with ebay/paypal to protect yourself, as soon as you receive funds via paypal, transfer them immediately to your bank account, they cannot touch that! that way if it gets nasty and they freeeze your account. fine, close it and walk away. If not they got you and theres nothing you can do, as with others on this group been there done that with idiots on ebay making BS claims......... Todd K

transfer it to the bank account NOT LINKED to your paypal account. paypal can take funds from your linked bank account withou you knowing it.
my bank account linked to paypal has 6 bucks in it. :P
if you don't pay paypal when you lose a case, say bye to any paypal account that uses your home address. the phone method is the best way to get what you want.

Yeah, somehow Paypal seems to get around obstacles they shouldn't, as I just went thru this.
<< my bank account linked to paypal has 6 bucks in it. >>
I also always kept low funds in my Paypal account. Guess what? Not only did the bank allow Paypal to go in and take what funds were in there, they covered the overdraft amount also, and then tried to charge ME $35 for overdraft charge. They said they have no way to stop someone from going into my bank account if they have the numbers. I said if my friggin BANK can't stop something like that, time to change banks....so I did, and closed the account. So not only pissed at Ebay and Paypal, but my old bank (Washington Mutual/ Chase) as well. So, only way to avoid a debit and overdraft charge (no matter HOW little was in my account) is to close the account since the bank won't put a block on account for certain companies (or too lazy) or check debits, so I closed the account. I'm sure if I had $6 in there and someone withdrew $1k, they'd try to make me liable to re-pay the $1k AND the $35 overdraft charge. Anyway, that still didn't stop Paypal.
So, after I went further into the Paypal mess and got them to temporarily refund my money as they investigate, I not only CLOSED the previous linked bank account, but also unlinked the credit card I had on Ebay and Paypal account, so they had no access to anything. Guess what? Somehow magically Paypal went back into their history files and found my credit card number and re-charged my credit card I had linked when the transaction occured 4 months earlier. I disputed with my CREDIT CARD COMPANY also (Citibank), so THEY had to open a dispute and investigate with Paypal. They came back and said they asked Paypal if the charge was valid. Guess what? Paypal said it was a valid charge. No shit??? It's like asking a thief if they just robbed that bank over there. "Bank? What bank? I don't rob no bank". of COURSE the person doing the unauthorized charge is going to say it's valid!!!! So, I re-submitted an unauthorized charge to my cc company, around and around we went, they said I had 10 days to respond in writing, but then 1 day later also sent a "case closed in favor of Paypal" letter, since paypal asked the scammer buyer to respond in writing, etc, etc.. I could have STILL responded in writing to continue to play the game and re-open the case, but not worth my time anymore at that point anymore.
The point is....don't believe you have any "protection" from Ebay, Paypal, your bank, OR your credit card company.
-
wow, that's a new one to my ears.
corrupt azz company.
Paypal says - "link a bank account so we can verify you are who you say you are"
Reality - "link a bank account so we can ravage it at will."
sounds like the 3rd class action against paypal i'll sign up for. :)
-
WoW that sure is a crazy story you just cant trust anyone any more !!!! good luck
