Come join the Tampa Bay Pinball League for our monthly tournament, which is held every third Saturday. Details to come, it will be $10 for the tournament and we will need an accurate head count.
I'm going to ATTEMPT to host a 9 round pin golf tournament. I will post the rules soon.
This will NOT be for IFPA points.
Any questions or comments feel free to speak up :)
*UPDATE:
-Players will play with at least 1 other player, up to 4 players per hole. Each player plays for the target score indicated on the score card. The number of balls played to reach the target score will be counted as "Strokes"
-Each game will count as one hole played. When the group is done on a hole it will move on down to the next one. Each round will be 9 games (holes)
-The 9 games will be a mix of DMD & SS
-There is a course maximum of 6 Pin-Strokes per Pin-Hole. Should you not reach the Target Score after playing FIVE balls, record a score of 6 and move on to the next Pin-Hole.
-If a player earns an extra ball, this will not be counted as an additional Pin-Stroke, but rather as a continuation of the current ball being played.
-The player with the lowest score at a Pin-Hole takes the honor of playing first on the following Pin-Hole. The competitor with the second lowest score plays next and so on. If two or more competitors have the same score at a Pin-Hole, the play in the same order as the previous Pin-Hole.
-This will be a casual play tournament, not for IFPA points.
-Pay out will be the usual
1st - 60%
2nd - 30%
3rd - 10%
*UPDATE 2:
Doors will be open at NOON
Tournament starts PROMPTLY at 2PM.
Possibility of a 2nd tournament.

Never played pinball golf before. Sounds like fun!
2 from POPS territory headed down your way, Nick and Mark.
Vacation day already approved.

Pingolf is very fun.
To the TD, after determining what score is par, I would strongly suggest trying it out firsthand. Often times the par score is set too high and many players end up with a string of max strokes which is not fun.
From my experience in keeping track of statistics, the par score should usually be much lower than one thinks it should be since the tourney atmosphere often changes the dynamic of the game.
Anyway, Enjoy! Looking forward to hearing about it.

Thanks for the advice! I'm will take it into consideration cause I've never played nor ran a pingolf so its gonna be a huge learning experience.

If you need any help, feel free to PM or call.

Just set the par score to whatever Dan's grand champ score is on each game. Should be easy enough to get that many points on a ball or two...

I'm not coming...just working on posting more.

Strawberry shortcake you say... Should I bring some vanilla a la mode?

Heya Dan
so Im thinking you don't own any EMs? I mean how can it be a tournament without any REAL pinball machines? ;D ;D
or MAYBE, just MAYBE, y'all are scared to compete against the "EM brigade of Florida" team? :P
-
I kept rolling the EM's over and needed games with more of a challenge! :P :P
-
well yeah, EMs are easy to roll over when you have them set to award a extra ball every 10 points!
sure, you just know deep down inside that the EM Brigade is unbeatable because they excel in the world of REAL bells and chimes, unlike that recorded electronically mumble jumble you are used to. We understand the geometry and the skill set with smacking those cabinet corners to make the game shrivel in fear at our awesome playing skill. Why I heard that JEFFNOTJIM has scored on Ems higher totals then the billions of points awarded for putting the ball in play on a SS game. SS=simply silly. Boy they sure don't make them like the good old days when people respected we wizards for our expertise and being just plain good looking examples of the human race!
SS players all need to work on their tans!
its ok yall fear us, we understand! ;D
-
wel.....alrighty then!!! ???
-
well see what you should do is borrow my bow and arrow or old Chicago or maybe one of my gottlieb wedgies and not announce it as one of the 9. then you can freak out a whole bunch of players, or maybe not, most good players can play EMS quite well. then theres that occasional player that claims they hate EMS and have never really played them,,,,,,,,,,,kinda like making NASCAR drivers try to make it around road courses!
-
then you can freak out a whole bunch of players, or maybe not, most good players can play EMS quite well.
True. Often the same names appear in the list of top 16 qualifying players in both modern and classics banks. Some players are stronger on one era versus another, but the top players are solid across the eras.

Weeze, you're a hoot. I have a double hernia in my gut, and I laughed so hard it hurt. Sending you a PM in a few minutes.....I have something in my garage you may want.

I just realized this is the same day as the Meatloaf concert and I got VIP seats for my wife for her birthday. I really hate to miss one of your gatherings Dan as they are always a great time and I get to see some people that I don't see that often anymore. Plus your collection is amazing and always changing. Between the pins and the jukes I could spend a whole weekend there.
I can come by Sunday morning and play some pinball while you are cleaning up. ;D
Sorry I can't make it and thank you for the invite.

Just a final note...after the party note that is.It was a GREAT time again as usual! The PIN GOLF tournament was FUN and different. Ron, showed up on the right day! LOL. And even a few new faces! Congrats to Kirby for the WIN for April. The league will be sad to see you go.But I guess you will just have to get a plane ticket and come back in a few months for the Finals. Owl brought the TBPL shirts too. and we had a minor issue with 2 games at the start but Hamster came to the rescue! Thanks!.
