Title: REVIEW: Jurassic Park or World 12 (or whatever)
Post by: number six on June 22, 2022, 11:17:52 AM
I enjoyed the original Jurassic World, it was kinda dumb but it had dinosaur fights and was fun. The 2nd movie sucked, they tried to do some sort of James Bond-esque plot sans most of the Dinosaurs and it didn't work at all. I don't remember much about it other than the plot centered around some dumb ass Dr. Evil type plan to shine lasers at people so raptors would attack them instead of just you know, shooting them.

So did the film makers learn anything from the 2nd movie's mis-step? Well sorta but also not really? The James Bond plot is back unfortunately, even the laser guided raptors return but there are more Dinosaurs. Chris Pratt and Bryce Howard are given more to do versus their almost cameo like roles in the 2nd film as are all of the original actors from the OG Jurassic Park. The problem is there's simply too much going on and when you add in even more new characters the whole thing gets bogged down in various plot lines.. most of which aren't that interesting.

For example the crux of the film is once again a James Bond villain using Locusts to control the world's food population or something? I don't know.. most of it doesn't make a lot of sense and just makes the movie drag.

It's not a total loss.. there are a few good dinosaur sequences and fights but most of it we've already seen. I think Jurassic Park is a lot like the Terminator franchise.. there's only so much story here so when you try to keep going beyond that you end up with diminishing returns.

Bottom line - It's better than the last one but not by much.. it's still not good. If you like Dinosaurs you can probably make it through this one on streaming but seriously this movie needed about a third of its run time trimmed and the focus put back on the Dinosaurs... nobody cares about these dumb ass evil corporation sub plots.

The plot of this one was stoooooooopid.

I did enjoy the dinosaur scenes but wish they'd focus ore on those and less on the dub plots and characters.

I swore at one point the motorcycle chase scene was stolen from something out of the Bourne Identity series.

production quality and green screening and horrible text overlays calls " we spent more on coffee " for me.

Watched last night, and while sort of entertaining, there was just so much regurgitated content.  So many parts identical to the original Jurassic Park, the Bourne motorcycle scene, the Rambo hide under water scene, etc.
And apparently they genetically combined a dinosaur with Edward Scissorhands.
