Whirlwind ball launch issues
« on: May 21, 2010, 07:04:35 PM »
Hello Folks,

I purchased a Whirlwind pinball a month ago and since then have had a chance to play another one.
What I have notice is that on my Whirlwind, the ball launch shots the ball towards the left ramp.
On the Whirlwind I played in Atlanta and have also seen on some YouTube videos, the ball shoots to
the right of the left ramp and on around to the upper right flipper.

Any thoughts on why mine does this?  Where there 2 versions of Whirlwind other than the Promo?
and is the ball launch up the left ramp normal?  ???

Thanks Guys...

I have never played a well working Whirlwind (unfortunately), but from what I can tell, the objective is to make the skill shot which is on the left bank of drop targets.  I would assume if you plungered the ball at full length it could make its way partially up the ramp, but I am not 100% sure.

Not every game will be the same.  Several factors will affect the initial skill shot

1) How stiff is the shooter spring?

2) How hard is the shooter pulled? (Use the gauge on the apron)

3) How is the game pitched/side to side level and is the playfield clean/waxed

4) How is the metal guide on the right side of the shooter lane aligned?

Thanks Jeff and others for those suggestions,  I will review my Pin and see
if any of those items may be causing the ball launch issue.
