Poll: Is Tebow the right choice for Denver?
« on: October 20, 2011, 02:38:51 AM »
So, should Tebow be the man or not in Denver?

And...not like Miami isn't fucked up enough, but WTF is with honoring the FL 2008 championship team during this week's Dolphins vs. Broncos game?  Does ANYONE believe it's anything other than taking advantage of a marketing opportunity for FL Gators fans living in Miami, or willing to commute to the game to watch Tebow play?  Why the HELL would Miami (home of the Hurricanes) REALLY honor it's cross state rival?  on their whopping 3rd anniversary of their championship season.  Yeah, the golden 3rd anniversary.  Not sure who is behind this marketing genius.

Also, are you guys very excited to watch this game, or just mildly interested since Tebow is starting?  Any Gator fans that are now turned into Denver fans just because Tebow is there?

I'm excited. Tebow is a great kid and probably the best role model in the NFL. I hope he does well.

They've made Tebow sit for too long already.  Every time he gets in the game, even all the players say the team feels different and more energized under him as their leader and they move the ball yet there he sits.  I hope this game is the one he proves he's the right guy and all the questions end.  Give the guy a chance, or trade him.

I personally cannot wait for this game.

I am more excited about seeing Tebow play on television Sunday than I am about going down to Everbank on Monday night to watch my Jags get pounded by the Ravens.

orton is horrible in the game. i'm better than orton. i'd rather see ANYBODY in there other than that guy. training camp must be for pusses if orton "won" the job in training camp. he isn't worth 30 bucks a day during this season.

I typically only watch college football and flip through the varied nfl games with semi-interest.  I will watch the game this Sunday.  Long time Gator fan, and have always enjoyed watching Tebow play, partly because of how he played at Florida, but also the great role model he continues to be.  Don't get me wrong, you can be a great role model and suk and no one will care, but the boy does have talent and seems to have some great intangibles on and off the field.  I will watch to hopefully see him do well!  Even if he fails, I admire his skill, determination, and presence he brings to his teammates and those around him.  A lot of kids look up to football players only to have them end up in jail for dog fighting or other crazy acts which is sending bad messages, Tebow is one who seems like a genuinely good person and for that I wish to see him succeed.

It would be the perfect result for me if Tebow's first start was the Dolphin's first win.

Last year Orton averages 300 yards 2 TD's and less than 1 INT per game before they fired McDaniels, and started putting in Tebow, so I don't blame them one bit for starting this year with Orton.  However this year Orton has played the worst of his career, and many attribute it to the pressure the fans have been putting on the team to put in Tebow since the start of the year.  It's too bad for Orton, but the Broncos are in a rebuilding time after being decimated by McDaniels' consistently poor personnel choices, so why not try out Tebow and see where that goes.  Most QB's don't fully mature until year 7 so I just didn't see the urgency to stick Tebow in there in year 1 or 2 other than to placate the insane fandom across the country.  At some point football is a business and you have to give the fans what they want regardless of outcome.

Having said that, it is obvious he brings some intangibles to the field.  He needs to fix his throws but it should be fun to watch and see what he can do.  Pressure is now off Orton, so if he has to take the field in relief of Tebow you'll probably see a different QB than has been starting all year.

My feelings exactly, except replace the name "Tebow" with "Quinn".  OMG, has THIS guy gotten the shaft!  He was cursed with shit coaches and players who couldn't catch in Cleveland, even though the team responded like night and day once he went into the game.  THEN, same story every opportunity he's had in Denver, preseason he looked MUCH better than Tebow (although Orton DID look much better than BOTH of them, go figure).  So, Quinn doesn't whine, he prepares his ass off, makes the most out of whatever opportunity he's given, he outplays Tebow and "unofficially" wins the backup job (although they deemed it a "dual backup position...they're BOTH the number 2 QB" ??? Now THAT'S a new one!  That was John Fox's way of trying to shut up the fans screaming for Tebow).  So, Quinn waits patiently for his chance, but since all the fans are screaming for the new guy, he gets passed over at what should now be HIS opportunity.  He has more experience, more control, better arm, etc. etc...but nobody cares.  He's not been given a fair chance IMO.  Nothing against Tebow, I wish him well also, but after watching Quinn get screwed by being surrounded by shit in Cleveland, it would be nice if someone didn't write him off.  Unfortunately for both Quinn AND Tebow, that guy is the WAY washed up John Fox, who should have been done coaching at least 5 years ago.  Probably a little better option than inexperienced McDaniels, but just by a little.  With all the talent Fox had in Carolina it was pitiful he couldn't get back to the Super Bowl at least ONCE, let alone Championship games...or even playoffs.  Good luck with whoever plays in Denver.  We still hate them AND Elway...still too soon.

You mean they haven't erected an Elway statue in Cleveland?  That's what's normally done for the leader of the conquerors.   ;D

Yes, I think they did put one up in Public Square for all to see.  Then me and HFK helped tear it down, just like they did to Suddham Hussein's statue.

Seems we have our answer about Tebow.   He had a meh overall game, but come crunch time he shined.. that's what he did over and over at florida and today he showed he can do it at the pro level.   It's not always about the stats or pure ability, sometimes it's natural leadership.

A win is a win, but imo that was very UN-impressive...and against the hapless Dolphins.  I would say the Dolphins gave that lame ass game away more than Tebow seized it, but he DID make the several plays he needed to win it in the end.    Miami was pathetic: 2 field goals, then a TD and were up 12-0, so why not go for a 2 point conversion in case Tebow brings the Broncos back suddenly and scores 2 td's?  Nice thinking, except that when they missed that 2 point conversion rather than take the ONE point, that would have been the difference in winning the game IF Denver somehow could come back.  Well, they DID come back, and since the 2 point try failed they end up tied and go to OT, where they fumble and hand the ball to Denver in field goal range. Yuch.

Tebow looked clueless most of the game, couldn't read the defense and pocket collapsed on him every other play for holding onto the ball too long, not finding an open receiver...he damn well BETTER be able to run.  As the analysts mentioned, this surely is not Elway's vision of what they want in their future QB.  When they play a few real teams in the coming weeks it will tell us more, either Tim gets his shit together more or it will all fall apart.  Next up is the Lions, which should be interesting.  Lions have a 2 game losing streak, seem to have much more talent than Denver, but Tebow will have the REAL home crowd behind him now, and perhaps some more confidence to make a better showing and learn from today's outing.

every pro team should run the 2 minute offense for the entire game.

i mean, come on...shut out for 55 minutes...lol. then comeback and win.

scores would be 82-75 if these teams set up the 2 minute offense for the entire game. :P

football could be fun again!

i missed the game, so can't give my impression of anything. except did anyone bet on miami? really?
