I agree, stereotypes are not absolutes, but they are also not without cause... while all liberals don't hate guns, most people that hate guns are liberals. While not everyone who's a liberal drives a heavily government subsidised "green vehicle", most people who would buy one are. The viewpoint that guns are an outdated and unneeded danger to society and that government should play a role in the consumer marketplace by directly subsidizing the purchase of green vehicles is consistent with the core ideology of liberalism - not conservatism.
It's not impossible to put lipstick on a pig... it's just ugly, and at the end of the day, it's still a pig.
