Anyone in Orlando/Tampa that can buy from an auction
« on: April 19, 2012, 08:11:53 PM »
My company car is up for sale but they want a crazy amount for it however, looks like it's going to Orlando (maybe Tampa) auction - will know for sure when they pick it up. I want to buy it, but I think one needs an auction license to buy at these auctions, can someone help? Body of car looks like crap (should go cheap) but it's a super great vehicle (never been in the shop other than routine maintenance)and want to buy it at a reasonable price.

no you don't need a license to buy it... Unless its a DEALER only auction..

your most likely going to compete with everyone and every dealer on it, your probably going to pay crazy money + tax + title fees.. (this is why sometimes they only do dealer auctions, that what they dont have to worry about tax & title fees)

find out who the auction house is, and call them up, ask them what the process is.

I fix things.. all the things.. but you have reach out first to see how my queue looks. ( all things arcade/pinball/computer ) ... do not do house calls, repairs are generally live streamed on twitch.

i have a dealer license. dealer auction vehicles go for stupid high down here in south florida, as most of the buyers are buy here/pay here places, and they rape the general public. only things i've picked up from a legit dealer auction was a 96 golf, a 97 jetta, and a pair of ford probes. almost got a hummer with airbags too.

you can get a cheap truck from them, though. but you pay out the wazzoo for any honda, toyota, lexus, most nissans, mitsubishi's, etc...

your company wants a high amount, so they're going to put a high reserve up at the dealer auction, right? body damage doesn't matter. people still pay a lot at these things. saw a fake ACR neon SRT4 with missing turbo (oil coming out everywhere) sell for $8500 (which at the time was $2000 over good street price).
