Anyone here ride a "fixie"?
« on: September 08, 2012, 08:10:06 PM »
I have bee riding MTB for years and I rode a lot of BMX as a kid. I am thinking of buying a fixed gear bike now - these seem to be becoming all the rage lately and look like a lot of fun. I have to admit I don't love riding my mountain bike an the street and I am not a road bike "type of guy". This fixed gear movement might be right up my alley.

Anyone here ride one?

Do not watch video if you are not into cycling - you will not dig it.

I have a cheap 700c fixie. It was like 100$ at Wal-Mart. It's nothing special, but I dig it. It's fun to ride and I can keep up with the Girlfriend on her 10 speed.

I fix things.. all the things.. but you have reach out first to see how my queue looks. ( all things arcade/pinball/computer ) ... do not do house calls, repairs are generally live streamed on twitch.

I noticed a lot of the fixed gear riders like to put things in their spokes - cards, glowsticks, etc.

I won't be doing that.  :-p

I had one for awhile.  We made some for one of our BMX bike brands.  I still have one but I run it with a freewheel and I'm much happier.

Don't forget to pedal ;)
