We need to get about 150- 200 pins next year if possible.  Seems we are getting more people bringing games, and that is great, now we need to call in GA, NC, SC, etc to bring games to SPF, then we can get Vendors to come and set up.  Now that is a show.

Would love the commitments in advance.  It is difficult to gauge the size of the room 8 mouths out, without knowing who is bringing games.  That room could fit about 90-95 if we covered the front wall.  If we could get the states north of us to begin committing, then we will get a place to fit it.  That, or get more people to be involved than there already is.  I know this state could supply 150 pins easy, but you got to bring them!

If the room was bigger and we still only brought 80-85 pins, then worst case scenario we'd have more room for tournament and vendors.  ;)

With the most obvious increase in tournament participation it should be a priority to make that area even bigger next year.  Should be very easy to get 110+ games next year with some proactive marketing, as both years the people to games ratio was sort of high (lots of waiting for games)... this is a whole different set of issues than lack of participation, so it's all good.

Send me your ideas on how proactive marketing will get more people to bring games and increase participation.  Every bit helps us now, as we begin the planning for next year.

those ideas should be posted here as we have 3 shows and really should all work together to get machines brought to all of them

Couple of thoughts:
1. Better incentives to bring games? I'm new to all this, so maybe the compensation is comparable to all of the other "bigger" shows. Not sure.
2. Reinforcing proper gaming etiquette. I saw way too many instances of people abusing machines. Sure, the owners can set them so the tilt is sensitive, but that doesn't stop people from slamming them after a drain (saw that way too much).

I agree, coordinating each of the 3 events in the context of their own niche would help collectors coordinate who brings what to which event, and let everyone plan and coordinate in advance and feel comfortable doing it.   3 motley gatherings of games to play is great, but keeping in mind many attendees (newbies and seasoned) use this as an opportunity to decide what to buy next, I'd like to see more of a comfort level to have a showcase of well conditioned and unique games.  Mike D showing off his Creature mod is a good example of something unique that alone brings interest.  Not sure if I saw a single game with mirror blades, so I still have no incentive to buy them, and at SPF no vendor on site to buy them from (well unless we pre-order with Curly).

Rare and high demand games are ideal, but not enough of them showing up at shows...For example who's going to bring a Whoa Nellie, Predator, BBB, Joust Pinball or EDOT next year?  ;)  That's the trick, making each event so special that people are tripping over themselves to bring the best of their collection.. not an easy thing to accomplish.

i think the offering from all involved now is great, for each show.

my sole issue, is transport and taking care of my babies. now, you guys that have hosted my games, have been top notch. so my only issue, is transport there and back.

i have the games. i do not have the means to move them. even dean and denise have stepped in to move some for me, as well as ron and donny. they need to get props for that!

and again, all 3 shows are doing great. keep it up. :)

(i've got 2 ready to go to ape, gamewarp, and spf next year, with a few more in line to be added)

this year, my SPF plans went sideways quick. from 2 games originally planned, to me not even getting up there. i ended up sending an MPU...what does that get me?:o

It made it possible to play Jeff's cocktail pin, which was a lot of fun and played by many.  So, I guess you get a hearty handshake and a pat on the back.   Plus, when you get to my place, I will even give you your board back.

Transportation is my issue as well.  I need a enclosed trailer or maybe I can rent a extended cab truck for the family and just package the Pins in way they won't be expose to the elements.  I will work on bringing 2 to 3 Pins next year.

Chris,
Thanks a ton for sending up the MPU. It help me see that I truly do need a new MPU before I went out and bought one to no avail. It also added another game to the SPF lineup and I really appreciate it. We had a lot of compliments to the cocktail pins. Many people never knew pins like that existed. You were missed at SPF and the soul of your pin lived through my game. THanks again.

Maybe all the Folk from remote areas can get together and Rent a Truck and make a trip up/down/sideways? this seems a common problem, we did it the first year and it nearly broke the bank (well,it actually did), and us loading/unloading was a bear, we did it the second year for about 25 games , and still it was a bear, someone was ready to pass out in my yard at 3am dropping the games back off, but if groups of people get together and load up games from there area for transport to the show, that would be a win-win situation!

And remember, its OK if you tell someone to stop man handling a machine, tell them to treat them as there own, just don't be rude about it, hell, you could just tell them it's your machine (hopefully there not manhandling there own machine). Sometimes they just need to be reminding to be gentle to the machines.

I fix things.. all the things.. but you have reach out first to see how my queue looks. ( all things arcade/pinball/computer ) ... do not do house calls, repairs are generally live streamed on twitch.

I can't remember if i was going to pass out or cry, probably both. Damned pin2ks!
