Doctor Wanker

Meet the new Doctor Who.

I dunno, from the pictures he looks a bit like a tool.

I really liked Eccleston and Tennant so this guy has some expectations riding on him. I'm not sure if going even younger was the best idea. Back in the day they mixed it up a bit. Colin Baker was a lot different than Davison who was a big change from Tom Baker, etc.

Also apparently in the running was the evil kung fu guy from Serenity that made people fall on his sword. I think that would have been a more interesting choice, but I guess we'll have to see this new guy 'in action' to make an informed decision.

But born in 1982? I was literally watching Doctor Who before this punk ass was even standing. Not sure if that's just me feeling old or if this kid is too young to be a believable 900+ year old Time Lord.

The Christmas special was ok, nothing great, and with the prospect of only 4 specials this year, or 3 if you count Christmas ??? I enjoyed both ecclestone and Tennant, and the new one doesnt look the part at present, and will have a big job to fill the shoes of the Dr. Hopefully will look more Dr. than in that pic you posted Jack  :'( but with a major lack of new Dr this year, not sure about Torchwood? hopefully they can bring a full season of that to fill the void.

I agree, too young, too douchy. Chiwetel Ejiofor had been the rumor, he'd have been a good choice IMO (he was the villain in Serenity).

I was kinda disappointed to hear this choice too..  I really wanted them to go with an older quirky doctor but no luck :(

I guess we'll find out soon enough, but yeah.. this doesn't appear to be the best choice. I too would have prefered perhaps an older Doctor just to mix things up. I'd imagine that doesn't fall within the new 'hip' demo they're going for. Even the BBC is ruled by ratings!

Going for that Twilight demographic or something...they want their own geeky Cedric Diggory.

A male that knows that much about Twilight is pretty scary.  Stop it.

Ugh!  Haven't kept up with the show the last couple of years.  First, a new doctor, then bye-bye Rose and now another new Dr?  I'm not a big fan of a show that switches out main characters like candy.  It's one thing to have some minor new and different people come in and out of the show, but part of the fun of watching a sitcom is seeing how the characters develop their relationships together over time.  Having to press the restart button every year or two just takes some of the fun out of it!  Besides really don't like the looks of this one; he looks like a fop.

Can't there only be like 9 or 12 doctors or something in total? what are they up to?

The Doctor has the ability to regenerate 12 times, so that's a potential total of 13 Doctors.

It's already been established that the 12th or possibly the 13th Doctor is the Valeyard, who was a major Villian during the Colin Baker era. I'm wondering if they'll bother explaining that once they get to it, or just sweep it under the rug.

wiki says Steven Moffat (COUPLING!) will be the head writer and executive producer for the new stuff.

COUPLING! (just ignore the last season)

I think he has a massive head, so they ain't going for the sex appeal aspect. It's too early to say the choice was a mistake but at 26 it's taking the piss a bit. David Morrisey would of been the better choice IMHO.

I'll wait until his episodes start before passing judgement, but I haven't felt this uneasy about a doctor since Peter Davison. Of course that turned out pretty good, but I'm even more uneasy here.
