Bally 1987 Dungeons and Dragons pin? Anyone have opinions?
« on: March 26, 2013, 02:32:50 PM »
Does anyone have any experience or opinions on this pin?
I used to play D&D growing up in the early and mid 80's and this pin would have nostalgic value for me but I have no experience with it and don't remember seeing it.
Opinions?

Thanks!

expect to pay more, with the wake of pins getting sucked up with the overpriced masses.

2 years ago there was one local to us for $800 firm, and it didn't work.

weird cabinet design makes it a bit goofy to move.

no replay value when i played one years ago.  :)

The backbox has the Larry Elmore artwork from the 80s red box set, i remember that.

Looks like a cool early 80s pin but i couldn't justify over $1k for it.

That game doesn't seem to come up for sale often. I recently bought a D&D translite to hang on the wall. That's probably as close as I'm going to get. Cool artwork. Larry Elmore recently published a book with a lot of his stuff in it. His website has a big gallery and all the prints are for sale. I recognized some of it from TSR games and modules.

Larry Elmore is always at DragonCon and i usually stop and say hello. I've got a few prints and a painting from him. You can't even think about Dungeons and Dragons without thinking about Elmore, Easley and Caldwell.

That is a rare pin. It's one I wouldn't mind having but price would have to be right as I can't imagine it's a great player. They also may have gone a bit crazy with the blue on that one ;)

It has a quirky layout, but does some cool stuff with the ball.  A couple of the shots are pretty fun to hit though.

We had one at our finals in the Atlanta Pinball League.  After warmups the opinion was you do NOT want to play this in competition.  Several groans when people drew it.

Has a thing where you need to hit an extra button to get the outlanes to close so the ball won't drain.  "Magic-Save" they call it.  Sort of a trap-door i guess.  I kept missing hitting it and watching the ball plunk downwards.

It was kind of fun, but i don't know if i'd want to own it.
