Other Things to do while in Jax

A list of my suggestions of places to go and things to do in town if you'd like to mix it up.

If you'd like a break to see a movie there is...
-Tinsel Town not far from the expo on Southside BLVD,
they have 3 pinball machines: Transformers, Rolling Stones and Avengers
-Sun-Ray Cinema which is an old fashioned theater, some indy releases, usually running 1 current movie
and it has a Doctor Who pinball machine.

If you'd like to go out to eat...
-Chuck E Cheese on Atlantic and they have Simpsons Pinball Party (haha kidding)
-Cantina Laredo in the Town Center is the best mexican in the area.
-Beach Road chicken is the best home cooked style southern fried meal on Atlantic blvd.
-Clark's Fish Camp is the best seafood/eclectic food place: http://www.clarksfishcamp.com

Clark's Fish Camp has great food.  They also have hundreds of stuffed animals so beware if the wifey gets freaked out by them.

When I was doing my hospital thing in Jax 5 years ago one of my favorite 'comfort food' things i'd do was at a place called Copelands.  They had a cajun thing called Steak Laboucherre I think.. Dunno if it's considered a dive or whatever by jax locals but I was hooked on that.

Also a really good Irish Bar at the Jacksonville Landing downtown with tasty car bombs....yum!

Fly's Tie Irish pub in Atlantic Beach has the most bad ass brunch in the area code on Sundays.

Copelands is good.  They have a catfish meal that I like.  I'd also suggest Mojos for Very good Memphis themed barbecue.  The Peruvian at Angie's is really good.  Pataya Thai on bay meadows is really good.  There are a couple pretty good Indian restaurants on bay meadows as well.  Johnny angel's is a really good 50's themed diner on st. johns bluff near beach.  The Route 66 is awesome.

Finally, a question in my "wheelhouse"!   

The closest tasting room to the event is going to be Engine 15 Brewing. It is only about 10 minutes away from the event and is in the same shopping area as the aforementioned Mojo BBQ if you want to try to kill two birds with one stone.

Seven Bridges is also very close to the venue, as is BJ's Brewhouse. Both of these establishments are more restaurant than tasting room, but the beer selections at both are top notch (including the house brews).

A bit further from the venue, but well worth the trip are:

Intuition Ale Works
Bold City Brewery
Brewers's Pizza
Green Room Brewery

Highly recommended, all of them.

If you wanted to plan an entire day of beer related activities (and who wouldn't), you could also throw in the Budweiser tour as we have a large plant here in town.

Nice, I will definitely be checking out Engine 15. This sounds like a foolish question, but is it an actual brewery? If so, I'd love to take a tour. I ask since it is in a shopping center. Also, I'd love to check out some of the other sites. I'll probably be stepping out of the venue some Saturday to sample some of Jacksonville's finest. This keeps getting better and better.
