Jax Expo News: Fun, Co-operative Tournaments
« on: January 19, 2014, 01:18:49 PM »
Just for fun, we have decided to run a couple of fun, little cooperative tournaments during Jax Expo this year.

Check it ...

Friday

Donkey Kong Cooperative Tournament

Two players will control Jumpman simultaneously through Kong's obstacles - one team member controls Jumpman's movements using the joystick, one team member controls Jumpman's movements using the "jump" button.

The two team members may not speak to each other at all once the game has started.

The cost to play is $1.00 per game and you can try as many times as you would like.

The "team" with the highest score at the end of the night will be deemed the winner and will receive half of all of the proceeds from the tournament. The other half will be donated to Dreams Come True!

If either team member speaks to the other at any point during the game, the team will be asked to forfeit that game and play again.

Grab a friend and come play some TEAM DONKEY KONG!

Saturday Evening

Robotron Cooperative Tournament

Two players will attempt to save the human race simultaneously - one team member will control the "movement" joystick and one team member will control the "fire" joystick.

The two team members may communicate with one another during gameplay.

The cost to play is $1.00 per game and you can try as many times as you would like.

The "team" with the highest score at the end of the night will be deemed the winner and will receive half of all of the proceeds from the tournament. The other half will be donated to Dreams Come True!

Grab a friend and come play some TEAM ROBOTRON!

Sunday

Pinball Cooperative Tournament

This one is simple - one team member controls one flipper and one team member controls the other flipper.

The two team members may communicate with one another during gameplay.

The cost to play is $1.00 per game and you can try as many times as you would like.

The "team" with the highest score at the end of the day will be deemed the winner and will receive half of all of the proceeds from the tournament. The other half will be donated to Dreams Come True!

Grab a friend and come play some TEAM PINBALL!

The specific pinball table that will be used for this tournament will not be announced until Sunday morning.

I played Robotron for countless hours on the 7800 just like the above (one joystick moved, the other fired) with a childhood friend during the late 80s.  I always moved and he always fired and after playing together like that for ages we could play for an eternity on one game.  There's a chance I may have to leave Saturday to pick up a game, but if I'm there for the Robotron tourney count me in!  I just need someone to fire ;D

You should try to find your childhood friend!
