What have we here?
« on: August 15, 2014, 01:02:57 AM »
Showed up at the doorstep today. I must admit, the original home of this was a major factor. Always wanted something from a nuclear facility!

Any guesses?

C'mon.. no peaking...

Ok! It's a MINTY Sencore CR70, mid 80's. Every adapter included, and the entire unit is shiny like it was just opened. I've been looking for a complete one in good shape for a while, and she is finally here. If any of you East Coast guys ever need to zap a tube, you know where another one is.

I LOVE my Sencore CR7000 , hands down the best.

However, that case is pure sexy.

I fix things.. all the things.. but you have reach out first to see how my queue looks. ( all things arcade/pinball/computer ) ... do not do house calls, repairs are generally live streamed on twitch.

That's good to hear. Knowing you are pleased with the 7000 makes me feel good about my choice with the 70.

How have your results been, and are you a proponent of more cavalier user, or only when there is a significant defect?

The 7000 has a very nice "range" for repair, and is fully automatic ( you just hold the button and it will auto stop )

It has a re-activate Low current mode, up to rejuv.

Wow. That is slick. And I see they have a signal generator too? Just when I thought I didn't need any more tools...

Think I'll go rummage through our local engineering surplus store here on the coast, later today. They have a wall full of 80s/90s test equipment, logic analyzers, scopes, etc. Cool place to dig through with 80s/90s era space center/defense contractor surprlus, but lots of DOA stuff. Don't recall any Sencore stuff, but I've been looking for an excuse. :D

WannaTheater: Its a tool used for correcting some specific issues related to vacuum tubes and CRTs.
