List of Great Places to Eat in the 904 Area Code

Before you make it to our great town,
I'll let ya know what places are worth drive to and eating at.
If ya like chain restaurants then this list may not be fore you.
But here we go...

Breakfast:
Secret Garden - This place is in the hands of a 2nd group of owners and it kept it's quality.
It's a laid back, nice, small and convenient spot to the show.

Si Senor Fresh Mex - The best bang for buck burrito in the area and comfortable place to sit and unwind.
Good luck finishing it on your own, prepare to take half of it to go for later.

Dinner:
Sneakers Sports Bar (Jax Beach) - This place at this point has 5 pinball machines and some of the best ribs around!
Great food and it may have more pinball and arcade games by the expo!  Easy to get to, just get on Beach BLVD and drive to the end.

Dug and I ate at Chicago Pizza on Friday night. The food was fantastic.

I highly recommend the triple dipper appetizer - Chips plus salsa plus queso plus freshly made guacamole. It was delicious.

There were even a couple of guys in there playing Street Fighter !!!!

Tried the ribs at Sneakers yesterday and they were not much to write home about. Very tough and not fall off the bone like their menu describes. Didn't send them back as they were good tasting. Just wish they were a little more tender. Great onion rings and their portions are plentiful. Had fun playing the pins too.

Moon river pizza rocks!   Love the T-Rex...  Hana Yori is the best Japanese and sushi place in Jax too and it's close to the expo...

4 Rivers BBQ on Baymeadows near I-95 is very good.

my question is, are all these places to eat really close to the actually Jax Show? I know myself & others coming from out of town want places that are really close to the event & the hotel - hopefully there's some decent spots around.

Some of the places mentioned are close but others not so much.  We will have the food trucks all weekend but if you want to mix it up a bit and go with something other than a big chain store I would recommend Angie's subs and Mambo's.

Angie's is just over the intercoastal and has a definite beach feel but they make some really good sandwiches.  You can't go wrong with the Peruvian dipped in the Peruvian sauce.  https://www.facebook.com/angiessubs?_fb_noscript=1

Mambo's Cuban Cafe has great Cuban food and while they do have other things on the menu I've never tried anything else so I can't vouch for those.  http://www.mamboscubancafe.com/

Both are about 10-15 minutes from the show and easy to get to.

Bottom line, the St. Johns Town Center is less than 5 minutes from the venue. There are tons of restaurants there to choose from, including one of our show's fine sponsors - Blackfinn Ameripub.

FYI - the shrimp and grits at Blackfinn is off the charts good!

I am going to highly recommend that you stay in the parking lot and enjoy the two AMAZING food trucks that we have coming, but if you must venture out there are tons of options nearby.

While I'm busy plugging our sponsors, you should also know that Mojo Kitchen is only about 15 minutes from the site. Mojo is every bit as good as 4 Rivers and you will only find them in Jax and St. Aug (and Gville later this year).

Plenty of good eats, both at the venue and just offsite. You won't be hungry while you are here!  :-)

Yes, we have some sponsors this year so if you are going to venture out it would be great if you can support them first. 

I also wanted to mention Maple Street Biscuit company that was just added as a sponsor.  They have a few locations in Jacksonville but are closed on Sundays so you will need to go there on Friday or Saturday.
