I love old school games, so shameless plug here guys, but as some of you know I started a side business a few month ago that has quickly grown to over 100 subscribers!

www.retrogametreasure.com is the website.  It's a Monthly subscription service to Retro video games where you put in your preferences of the Genre & style of Games that you like and consoles you own, we help start or Grow your Retro Collection!

Interesting concept.

How do you source the games for these?

Sounds cool.  This would be a good way to fill in some gaps in certain console games that I have without putting too much thought into it.  $30/month while a good value for what you are getting is a bit much for me to commit to.  But I don't see how you could provide that kind of service for any less.  I still might sign up one day though depending on how some other hobbies/projects end up.

Thanks guys!  It works by buying in bulk for sure.  Ever spent $3k on SNES games?! because I just did omg lol

So the same way like Lootcrate can give you all that stuff for cheaper, buy in bulk.

Had a few messages about it from some of you guys, so I created the Discount code for Villagers, use the Code: VILLAGE
to save $2 at checkout on your first month.

The code only works for the 1 month subscription.  I plan to do the 12-month for extreme savings!!! MWA HA HA HA!!!  But the code doesn't take 2 bucks off of that one.  It's not a deal breaker.  Just thought I'd let you know.  I'm signing up tonight.  :)

That's a hell of a lot of SNES games, lol.

How do you decide the distribution. Do you try to hit up a certain value per box or a certain quantity? Like if you got a $50 game in a bulk lot would you dump that in a box or sell/trade it for less valuable games to distribute around?

I try to make every box retail value of $30 or more so you get your money's worth. Think of it like a booster pack of magic cards I guess. If you get a $25-$35 Snes game, then the other 2-3 games might only be worth $4-$6 each. The part people are liking the most is we ask your preferences when you select the games so if you don't like puzzle games or you don't like sports games, we would leave them out. Say you love beat em ups and you love RPG's then we're gonna give you a balance of the style you like.

We're working on the backend to create an inventory system and to make It more automated as it grows, if anybody here is a programmer and is interested in helping, i'm willing to pay for the programming assistance.

Thanks!

I got my first treasure box in the mail yesterday.  I was pleasantly surprised with what I got.  I think part of the benefit of this service is that you simply don't know what you're going to get.  This was a good mix for my various systems.

Can't wait until next month.  haha.

As promised...

Behold!!!

  • Zoop - Sega Genesis
  • Yoshi's Island - SNES
  • Dragon Warrior - NES
  • Thunder Blade - Sega Master System (And it's Complete with case and manual!)

Oh and yes, that stainless steel thing in the background on the right is a Kegerator.   ;D

I don't have a gallery thing set up just yet, but that's something I need to work on cataloging and all that paperwork type stuff first.  Now, I'll have monthly additions though, so this will help kickstart my plans for my game cataloging system.

Thanks again for providing a valuable service.
