HOLY SMOKES!  That's the best explanation of a diff ever.  Even I understood it.   ;D

I can't wait until GM brings out that "new low center drive" axle. 

Seriously, this just shows how far GM/Ford/etc have fallen.  Man, GM kicked ass back in the day.
