Mayaenaise Proposal
« on: October 16, 2015, 11:26:01 PM »
Hey all,

You've probably noticed that it's gotten harder in the past few months to recruit quality people who will stay and with fewer people, clan activity hasn't been as high as before.  It's not just this clan, I've noticed it  on global and in the other clan I've been on.  It's great that we have a lot of the core good members have been here for so long and that's really what matters, but I'm concerned that we may not have enough core members to continue keeping people engaged for the long-run.  It's also great that we are getting more activity with wars to keep people involved and to use it to increase the clan level, but we've got about 20 members with some 2nd and 3rd accounts here and that's not sustainable to keep people active and engaged.

That's why I think we should consider a move of a couple of weeks to Supermans to see if we can work together as a larger team for donations, war, and leadership.  If at the end of the couple weeks and either of the two groups decide it's not working out, we go back to WeDonate!!!  I'm happy to leave my account in the clan and I don't think other people would mind keeping 2nd or 3rd accounts here to keep WeDonate!!! warm during the trial period.

Both clans I'm in have 1) good leaders, 2) good core members, and 3) good culture about helping each other and weeding out leechers but both could use more good people to 1) opportunities to engage with more people 2) to give more opportunities to donate, and 3) have a steadier roster for wars.  I've been with WeDonate!!! at least 2 years now and Supermans since the spring, so  I think both groups are similar enough with how they approach the game and treat members that moving would work for the benefit of both groups without changing either culture.  Both groups have gone through high levels of members, people leaving, and activity being lower than before.

Members from WeDonate!!! will have an opportunity to learn from people who do more frequent wars and opportunities to work with other active members.
Members from Supermans will have an opportunity to trade tips with high level people and see how we better manage leechers or enforce donations.

The only reason I'm proposing that people from WeDonate!!! move to Supermans is that they're a lvl 5 clan and it would be a better use of wars to add to a lvl 5 clan instead of bumping up a lvl 3 clan.  As Omit has said before, the donation bonus in a lvl 5 clan helps make lower lvl donators useful to higher lvl receivers.  A higher clan level makes it easier to recruit quality members and keep current members interested and engaged.

I don't think any of the leaders in this clan would have a problem showing that they're leadership material in the clan and getting recognized for it.

I brought this possible move up with the members at Supermans and they're ok with people from WeDonate!!! coming.  I said the people here were good and vouched for the leadership here.  If you're concerned about keeping your co or elder title, I will give you my co title there after you continue to show leadership there during the trial period.  Elder there is given after using both atks in a couple of wars and demotions happen quickly for failing to atk in wars.  Co is given after being there for some time but not as long as WeDonate!! takes.  That's more of a function of having fewer long-term leaders compared to us.

There are some points I want to make absolutely clear:
1) None of the people at Supermans were the ones who came up with the idea.  I thought it would be in the interest of both groups and mentioned it a few days ago with positive reactions.
2) I don't plan on leaving the WeDonate!!! regardless of what happens.
3) I think this will be

I'm happy to respond to questions or concerns.  If you want to ask questions to members in Supermans, you can go there and ask and I'll invite them to the board to discuss too.

I agree with maya, and I couldn't care less about being a co, elder, or any other title. I try my best to be a good teammate, and that should be enough to keep from being kicked. Every clan I've been in, I've never cared about titles. My feeling won't change by merging to a new one.

I'm more interested in how winning wars earns great loot and more clan perks. Having a unit upgrade and soon reaching the 35% donation refund makes leaching even more idiotic. Having more members and more requests equals more opportunities to donate. Win, win, win.

For some reason, I can't edit the post above mine. Anyways, here are my two cents on the proposal.

Positives of merging:
+Higher clan level
+Bigger wars
+More members to meet

Negatives of merging:
-We've been a clan for a LONG time now, and it would suck to abandon or disband it
-Sometimes, merges are a mess
-We might not get the same status

Potential problems:
*Not everyone merges and our clan splits

As far as my thoughts on the merge, I'm leaning more towards the "no" side, however, it wouldn't be bad if we went through with it. I hope that if we do merge, no one gets left behind and our clan doesn't split. The guys in the other clan are easy to get along with (as well as experienced), so it would be fun to meet new clanmates. We could use the level 5 perks, and a larger war would be fun. I do think that it would be wise if Maya and I stayed back on our alts just in case. If/when we merge, it should be organized so our clan doesn't split. As far as elder/co-leader goes for the clan, I think none of us really care, so that wouldn't be much of an issue.

Agreed with all main points above... I'm not keen on leaving our clan (I don't think anyone is) but I think we all recognize we have a growing problem with our membership levels and none of us have the time or energy to try and fix it - if that's even possible at this point in the game's evolution.  A merger would be better than being too small to function.  Activity attracts activity.

The up side is if we keep a placeholder presence open in our clan, it's all reversible if we need to.  I'm loyal to our clan, and our clan is us (members)... Not a name.  I want to see what Jimmy has to say before we decide though.  He's our clan founder and leader, so if he wants to put in the time and energy to renew our clan, I think we owe it to him to give him time to try.  If he says fold up the name and move to our new home, I'm good with that.

Thanks for your input everyone, I have the same concerns about a clan merge as Matt and Ryo have expressed but I think it's better to try something now than whither away.  It's tough recruiting and keeping people engaged and it would be easier for leadership on both clans to focus energy on one clan.

I definitely am planning on keeping an account in the original wedonate as a placeholder in if we move and decide to come back, let people who left before the move that we're in another clan, and possibly use it as a feeder clan if the numbers in the other clan get too big and we need to move people to another clan.

Great response Maya. Just curious, what do we even do about the other feeder clan? It has no activity.
