Thanks for the tips.  I'll look and see if there are any swap meets in South Florida to check out.  CL always seems shady, but you never know.  My problem is that I really try not to buy too much stuff, but I'd love to find a few decent scores every now and then.  I might have to change my mindset a bit.  haha.

Are there any retro stores in your area? We got a dozen or so now. Most of them are overpriced so they are basically nulled out but theres a handful that have reasonable prices and are worth hitting up.

We really need to start collecting lists and get the 'store finder' thing going

There was a post on Reddit recently with pictures of a police station parking lot that had a sign stating it was an area for people to conduct transactions they made on Craigslist and the like. Police nearby, area under video surveillance and well-lit.

Don't know if they have anything like that around here but it seemed like a good idea, and if it's reasonably close and the seller won't agree to meet there then you probably don't want to do business with them.

That's a great idea actually. Make a safe meeting place for all sorts of things.

There isn't anything close to me.  The closest place is somewhere just north of Naples which is well over an hour away.  I'm in Tampa every now and then.  So I'll see if I can swing by some places there when I'm able to.  Hopefully, I have cash in hand when I do come across any deals.  haha.

I dabble in coins as well and though I don't have deep enough pockets to collect per se I know enough about coins and precious metals to buy wisely and back when silver was  on a tear in 2011 I met people in a bank lobby and offered to meet at the local police lobby once or twice.  One guy stopped replying when I told him I had the cash and would take his collection if he met me at the Ocoee Police lobby so needless to say I didn't hound the guy :P.  Back then there were a few high profile robberies that ended up with the seller of buyer getting killed and since then a number of local police stations have offered 'safe places' for such transactions.  I have zero problem carrying a few hundred bucks in my pocket to check out a classic vid, but no way in the world would I show up with a grand or more to buy gold or silver unless it was in a bank lobby or at the local police station.  Gold, silver, coins, or the latest/most expensive phones should be purchased with *extreme* caution IMO.

I was recently at Sunshine Flea Market in Winter Haven on Hwy 27 recently (Was in the area to go to Legoland).  Not much there except for a couple places with some classic console stuff.  They all wanted top dollar for everything they had.  Prices even higher than eBay.  While I know it's all in the negotiation, they were too far out of range to even begin.  And there wasn't much that I was seriously interested in.  That said, it was nice to see a few loose carts in the wild.  And it was nice to see a real flea market for a change.  All of the ones by me are just cheap Chinese product vendors selling crap and knock-off items.

Hopefully, I'll be able to post some good finds one day.

We went there late last year.. big flea market.. big prices.. no deals :(

That's the problem with a lot of fleas now, the vendors that are there are ebay saavy and  you won't find good deals. Or worse yet they don't know anything about games and randomly search on ebay, find the stupid high priced listing that nobody ever buys and use that as a template. That's how you get $10 loose common Atari carts and such.

At this point you really want a swap meet.. ie a place where 'normal' folk bring stuff to unload. That's where you'll find the goods.
