Can you guess this Nintendo rarity?
« on: January 04, 2016, 07:03:17 PM »
Here's one you don't see every day so I figured it would be fun to see if anyone recognized it immediately.  The only hint I'll give with the first pic is that more than half the width of the box is shown in the image.  First person to figure out what it is will be considered the coolest guy on the board for the week :P ;D.

Ha!

The other side not shown is below.  I'll post the rest of the pics shortly, but nummy was on to something with his guess though I have yet to confirm the store definitively.

Yeah I thought so.

THey used to do these special bundles at the warehouse stores.. like costco or pace (if it was still around, which it may have been in the SNES era)

But instead of just the SNES you'd get the system and a few games.. maybe an extra controller. Usually for a bit off retail.

Well for those of you who frequent the NA boards this may look familiar from late last year as the guy who found it posted about it there.  From reading the thread on it there and searching for more info it seems this 'value-pak' is largely non-existent these days.  However even though it's quite likely one of a few known, there just isn't that much demand so I haven't struck gold (sadly ;) :P).  One showed up sealed years ago and sold for thousands then, but I can't find any recent sales other than discussion about this piece.  No one seems to know for sure which retailer offered this set.  The boxed games do show up from time to time, but don't command a lot as they're dirt common other than the value-pak labeling (which each item has).  However the console and scope show-up less often.  If I don't sell this as is, I'll probably patiently search for better boxed examples of the scope and console to upgrade the set.  At the very least if I keep it I'll look for mint contents of the console & scope and swap them out as mine are loose in the box.

Anyway here she is, the SNES Value-Pak:

You sometimes see online bundles when stores are trying to gouge on low supply stuff. Like 'oh yes we have the latest sold out console in stock.. but only in this $700 bundle that includes a bunch of shit you dont want'.. but those store bundles have somewhat faded.
