WTB- 5 Sega Blast City's with 2931 monitors
« on: August 22, 2016, 11:21:42 AM »
Looking to buy 5 Sega Blast City cabinets cash immediately. I am not looking for Sega Bass Fishing conversion cabs. Must be fully working. I would like to test on site to confirm quality of monitors, wiring, PSUs, and cabinet condition. I will bring my own PCBs to test, so no need to worry about bringing more to the table.

You may want to state what your willing to pay for one...

99.9% of all Blast City(s) in the US were FISHING games that then got converted to non-fishing game.. Some did it correctly with Loom, some hacked in a jamma harness.

I'm willing to pay $850 a piece. That's how much I paid for my imported cabinet. My imported cabinet also came with a SEGA 001 harness. I'm not interested in converted cabs. The PSU in those among other things are different than what I can use.

If someone wants to sell me a converted cabinet done properly, I'm willing to pay $550 per machine. It must have the 2931 tri sync monitor though. Not interested in cabinets running non tri sync or 2930s.

I'm not trying to price police here, but what you're asking for is simply unrealistic.

$550 for a working Blast is well below market value for a conversion.  For a rare, unconverted import cab, with tri-sync monitor - I dunno the market for that - but I imagine far less.

You may want to look for some sort of group buy or something.
Vids:
"Chewlix" Vewlix knockoff; Dynamo HS-27 w/ Area 51/MaxForce;  Strider (DE "Commando" conversion) ; Centipede Cabaret;  Tempest (MAME), Arcade1up AFM Pinball; Time Crisis 1 (Dynamo Hs5); Neo Geo Goldie Cabaret ; Irem "Madonna" w/ GroovyMame; Sega Blast City w/ Recallbox Setup;  Sega Naomi Universal with Piforce/Net Dimm;

WTB/WTT: Outrun cabaret

- I am a former TV tech and can repair and re-cap CRT and LCD monitors in my area.

I got someone I normally go through for the imported cabinets. I just didn't want to pay the shipping costs a second time. If no one wants to sell that's their decision, but my price is what I've already paid for a perfect example. The price for a Sega Bass Fishing converted cab should be far less than an original cab in my opinion. That's the price I'm willing to pay for non original cabinets. I can buy the real deal for $850 all day long, I just have to pay about $500 shipped to my house per machine as they come across the country. That's $300 for delivery with insurance, and $200 for the residential fee due to freight shipping.

I'm not sure what makes a Bass fishing that had the control panel swapped out any different than any other blast city.  Blast city cabs were built for model 3 games and then all were converted down the road to jamma/jvs.

They have a different power supply. It doesn't play nice with a lot of PCBs out there.

Its kinda like how the New Astro City has quite a few different power supplies it came out with, unlike the Astro City, and Astro City 2, and one of them is famous for not being compatible with Cave Co Ltd shooters.

FL Candies have dried up. If you want a candy cab, especially the number you want and with such restrictions, you are going to have to ship them in, and they are going to be around $1,200+.

You mean not compatible with low res Jamma games in general. Almost every US Blast cab I've seen (Sega Bass Fishing) has had a hi res only monitor i it. I've only seen tri sync monitors in Japanese Blasts unless someone found a low res or tri sync monitor to install.

most blast cities i have ever saw had dead 2931(s) in them, or about to die 2931(s).

they are all tri-res.
they are all the same power supply.

the only difference if they had the -001 loom for jamma which is a conversion for jvs.

Going through this again...  ALL blast citys came with the tri sync.  Model 3 games are medium res, the sega blast city is a model 3 cab.  If you have a blast with another monitor, it was swapped.

Also, I have never heard of a blast city with different power supplies and I have seen plenty with cave games in them, which are not power hungry boards.

Description:

The Blast City debuted in 1996 at the same time as Virtua Fighter 3, and was designed as the successor to the New Astro City. To take advantage of Sega's Model 3 technology, the Blast City was the first Sega generic cabinet to support a high resolution monitor at 31 KHz. Despite the 31 KHz monitor, ultimately only 24 KHz games were developed for Model 3, until the arrival of NAOMI. The monitor size did not change from the 29-inch monitors found in previous cabinets, but the screen was flatter. The weight of the cabinet increased slightly, to 101 kg. In Japan, Blast City cabinets with the Nanao MS-2931 monitor are commonly referred to as New Blast City (introduced 2 years after the first Blast City debut). All USA version Blast City cabinets (Bass Fishing) came equipped with the MS-2931.

and if you have a working MS-2931... your lucky, they all will die with no parts availability readily available.
