WTB: CPS2 A+B board
« on: March 28, 2017, 05:13:41 PM »
Have a big blue project I want to mess around with and I could use a legit CPS2 setup.

Doesn't matter which B board - cheaper the better as I would just be looking to have that one re-flashed anyway.

(If you can do all three -even better :D )

If going to Curly's on 4/1 - I will also be there.

I don't have any extras, but def. consider Darksofts multi cps2.  Every CPS2 game at your disposal.

I heard these are hard to find/not in stock nowadays.

You need A+B board + $325.  So we're talking realistically around $450-$500 after your A+B boards, darksoft mod, and shipping etc.   I'm hoping to spend less than that, at least for now.

Though I think it would be pretty freakin sweet to have my big blue with the dark soft mod in there eventually.

I was originally looking for a SF Anniversary PCB for my Big Blue, which was a $250 plus game at the time anyway.  Spending the extra $100 seemed like the better choice to have all the games.

What type of big blue is it?  The CPS2 Q sound one or the SF2 CE one?  I've been looking for a CE one for a while.

Q-Sound.

Still needs cosmetic work - the monitor is having some minor picture issues - plus CPO and marquee needed.

I have a Pandora's box in there for now, but I'd like a (semi) legit board in there eventually.

Without a CPS2 board, I cannot use the Q-sound amp.
(well - I can, but there's no adjustment for the volume, so it blares at max volume)

And the kick harness can't be used with the other jamma boards, like my Pandora's box.

I'm trying to get the A+B as a package deal.  Thanks for the offer though. :D

For the Pandora's Box, there is a CPS2 kick harness adapter available I believe. I was thinking the Pandora's box also has a headphone jack for audio out, so you might just go from that jack into the RCA audio inputs on a QSound amp, if possible. Or maybe you have already tried/addressed this.

The pandora's box has all the kick buttons on the jamma connector.  So I'm thinking I would just use a jamma extender and jimmy rig something with the kick harness.

The pandora's box does have a headphone jack out - but there is no volume control for that, or the Q-sound amp.  So it just plays at a really loud volume.  There is a pot on the board for adjusting the volume if using the on-board sound amp to play through unamplified speakers.

Volume control of the Q-sound amp is done on the cps2 board and the test switches in the front-inside of the cab.  These volume buttons only work with the CPS2 board - they are connected to the kick harness wiring to plug into the CPS2 board.

I'm thinking I'm just going to try and score a deal on eBay - I seen some go for <$100 for an A+B board this month with a common, mildly popular B-board.

You can get a Lepai Amp to make use of the headphone jack.

I have a cabinet that was configured for CPS2 with that kick harness like you do.  I bought this JNX v1.1 Atlas Adapter for $34.99 from Jamma Nation.  http://www.jamma-nation-x.com/jammax/store.html

This allows me to swap between my CPS2 setup and my Pandora's Box without an rewire.  Just plug the CPS2 configured jamma connector and the kick harness into this adapter and then plug the adapter into the pandora's box.  Works like a dream!

I haven't really been using the CPS2 now that I have the Pandora's Box and considered selling it but I figured I may wish I had it someday... since my rig is all pretty for X-Men vs Street Fighter.  :)

Yes, that is the kick harness adapter I was thinking of. Also, Mikes Arcade makes one for this that works with CPS1 and CPS2 with an extra adapter: https://www.mikesarcade.com/cgi-bin/store.pl?sku=JA-CHAMMA
