Standing in Line at TRU for SNES MINI next week

Who is going out next Thursday to stand inline for an SNES mini? 

Toys R Us isnt doing a midnight release.  But I am going to go after work thursday and wait in line for the 10am opening.. :\ going to be a LONG day.

So it will be a stand in line until 10am when they open + time to check out..   I will be going to work late that day.

Nah I get it.. if it was a midnight opening I would be all over it.. I cant do it if its a 10am opening.. I have a dog I have to take care of that cant be home from Thursday AM when I goto work, until friday night when I get back off of work after being in line all night

I will check with walmart if they are getting extras - might be my best bet on that one.

these are really that big of a deal? I have an original Nintendo...didn't really care about the release.

but with the snes, and the promise Nintendo will fulfill orders...don't get the need to wait in line to buy one.

I'm also the guy that will find the absolute BEST wait-in-line black Friday deal, and located it for 30%+ less online at any moment in time.


saying all that, I still may go, as we have a toys r us close to my home. it was one of my 3 important features in a home purchase (toys r us location, highway access to make a clean getaway, and lots oh garage space). 

I may just preorder with them, I know them well enough...I think.

You do know that Toysrus is bankrupt, and only able to buy from the vendors cash/carry...that being said, if you happen to have cash in hand when the delivery truck arrives at the store, talking to the driver, you might be able to walk away with a case.  Why pay retail when you can grab it wholesale?

Nintendo claims they're making a lot more of the SNES mini than the NES mini, and that they're going to re-start production on the NES mini next year as well.

No doubt the SNES mini will be scarce at the start, and probably hard to find for the holidays - so I understand if you're looking to flip them or whatever, but long term both of these should be things where there are piles of them at Target, Game Stop, etc. if you're willing to wait.

Personally I'll buy them at MSRP, but not a penny more and won't jump through a single hoop to get one. Not going to pre-order, or buy a forced bundle, or pay any kind of markup - but if I can just order one on Amazon (or even several) or buy one at a local store with no hassle I will.

Same goes for the Switch - I want one, but I'm in no hurry.

So some updates:

1.) Toys R Us, Best Buy, and Target all confirm NO midnight openings.. so standing inline is going tobe an all night into the AM ordeal.  That counts me out.. I cant leave the puppy home along all day thursday, then into the overnight and back into all day friday until I get out of work

2.) the comment they should all be sitting on the shelf. L O L ..  I have NEVER seen the system make it to the shelf in ANY retailer.. EVER.  if you arent there at store opening you arent getting one.

3.) the nes classic OEM still commands over $100-150 price tag.  Sometimes higher if you buy it hacked.

4.) TRU isnt doing presales - not online or in store.. so its going to be a cash and carry type deal if you are inline

Yes flipping them is the plan I have one fully paid off at gamestop so mine is secured.. as for what the big deal is.. the originals cant be played in HDMI    I have a Retropi setup but it isnt the same..

My goal will be to setup a spare bedroom for a retro game room (out side of my already setup arcade) and have these consoles plus the original counter parts to dig into.  Still might try walmart thursday night to see if I can get into a line there to get an extra system.

Ended up meeting some nice dudes in the TRU line -- got the ok to show up late to work.. so I did the all nighter..

Got there at 8pm was #7 in line by 6am about 45 people and by time they gave out tickets at 9:40 there where about 65 people in line.. 52 tickets where handed out at TRU total

Sleep deprivation is part of the experience.. the idea that at any moment you can drop on your face from lack of sleep while maintaining the entertainment of the crowd to keep everything chill..  its a hard job.. but someone has to do it.
