Was walking in a mall early today and saw a couple of guys standing next to a closed Gamestop. I didn't think much of it and kept walking. It occurred to me perhaps they were in line for the SuperNES Classic. Went back and  there was a sign on the wall saying they had 10 in stock to sell to walkins. As I was then #4 in line "I figured what the heck", and got in line and picked one up.

Taking into account that one new SNES controller is probably $15 each, I think it's a solid buy. RetroPi is nice but the lag is all over and there is screen tearing. I'd really like if these had S-Video out or component out, as I basically stopped watching TV in 2008 when LCDs hit the market, but HDMI is decent too for this.

Last time I bought a SNES game was in July of '94 for $69.99 which is definitely more in today's dollars than the $80 this cost. Always wanted to play Super Metroid. Probably will still get a SD2SNES at some point.

My SNES buying experience was a total of 11 minutes.  Bought from the treasure truck, parked in and out in 11 minutes :)

Here's my problem with the SNES classic.

I have my bought-in-1992 (I liked the Genesis in 91) SNES. It still works.

I have one of those NEC xm29s everyone bought on here a few years ago.

I have a SNES > SCART adapter and a SCART > HDMI adapter

IF I want to play on a CRT I go straight up with the xm29.

IF I (for some reason) want to play on a HDTV I use the HDMI adapter.

What really is the point of the SNES classic in relation to that? I mean.. it's neat and such.. but at $80 even if you don't have a SNES they aren't that expensive and neither are the cables. The SNES Mini has the cool menu and the 30 games I get that.. and I suppose if you are just really casual it's not bad.. but I mean if I got one I guarantee I'd take it out of the box, play it once or twice then put it back in the box.. then onto a shelf next to the Ouya and all these other plug-in-plays I've had over the years.

I'm definitely not standing in line for one of the damned things.

I guess its the novelty of it.. looking back at ad's its about the same retail cost as what an original was so many years ago.. I want to setup a vintage game room in the house.. but I just dont have the inclindation to put the work in right this second.. so many other little projects I want to work on first..

for now I can set the mini up ontop of the xbox and use my hdmi switcher and play on my projector.. and switch back when I am done.

I dunno.. I just think its cool..
