WTB bare/project Nintendo Cab
« on: January 01, 2018, 06:55:22 PM »
Friend is basically looking for a project Nintendo cab so that it can be turned into a Cuphead machine with custom artwork. LMK, thanks.

Just my opinion, and I'm sure this request is coming because of the Cuphead artwork package being offered by Szabo's Arcade, but I can't think of a worse cabinet to use for a Cuphead build.

Cuphead is a two player cooperative game - a Nintendo cabinet barely has enough room for one player to stand at the controls.

Also, most Nintendo cabinets are vertical monitor orientations. Cuphead is a horizontal game. Sure, you can throw a horizontal monitor in there and it might work OK, but there are better options. A Widebody Mario Bros would work quite well, but they are not easy to find. Adam used a Defender cabinet for his build and that came out quite well. I played it at Florida Freeplay and it was a little tight with two people, but not awful.

Good luck with the project. Cuphead is a fun game for sure!

I agree 100% with MilitiaMan.  Nintendo cabs are better suited for one player games. I wouldn't go much smaller than the Defender cab that I used as it works pretty well, but anything smaller would be pretty tight.

AFAIK, the artwork is designed specifically for this cab.

Yes but Joe will change the art to work with other cabs. I deal with him all the time.

I love Cuphead and loaded it up on my Mame cab but honestly its a game made for a controller, it is a 6 button game and does not work well with arcade layouts.
