ArcadeSD
« on: July 29, 2018, 08:03:25 AM »
Who's had experiences with it good or bad?

Does it reproduce all games on it well or some good and some not so good?
How does it differ from a traditional 60-1?

Is it easy to use? Any shortcomings?

I appreciate any advice or help as I am thinking of picking one up soon.

Thanks so much.

Its expensive but really good and easy to use.. if like me you dont want to spend hours dicking around with MAME or Pi its the way to go.

Took me maybe 10 minutes to get it loaded and working

I think someone else just asked the same question a week or two ago

I think you're right but I still had a lot of questions.

The games aren't pre-loaded but have to be loaded onto the SD card?

How is the interface?   Controls work out well or how are they programmed?

Better emulation than MAME and 60-1?

Thanks for all your help.

yes you have to download the games onto a SD takes 5 minutes.

The only real issue (which is common to all multis) is  getting the control panel how you want it. Tough to design one that will cover everything on there.

I just picked the games i cared about most and set it up for that so for me it was just a 4 way stick left and a 4 way stick middle and two buttons.

Its way better then the 60-1 as far as emulation goes.

Rats has mine running in one of his cabinets at Vector.  Maybe he can chime in... I never plugged it into a cab.

The Arcade SD is excellent, it is far better than the 60-1.  I have been using it at the bar for a few weeks now and haven't had any issues with it or even have to explain how to use it.  The two menu options are nice and it saves the high scores much better.

Thank you for your input! Greatly appreciated.
Any specific games or things it doesn't do well?

Asteroids looks like shit... That's about the only bad thing I can say about it, and really its a horizontal vector game that is reworked to display on a vertical monitor so it's better than not having it.
