Retro pie

Hello fellow villagers. Has any body purchased or played one of these retro pie console games. That you plug into your TV via USB. Or H DMI I can't remember.  It has like a ton of games from different   Video game consoles.  I guess my question is is it worth buying and playing. Any info on this would be greatly appreciated thanks.

it would be worth building one yourself

you can build a complete setup for < $50 and learn a lot

or if you're lazy you can find alot of pre-built SD card images that others have built. Personally, I prefer building my own so that I have my own "best" games in there, and can tweak the controls for each game to my personal preference.

Do you mean things like a pandora box? These are pretty successful, so it should do the job.
Not for purists, and as said before you can find cheaper options with the pleasure of customed interface and DIY.
If you just to play without spending hours learning / twiching your system, it's certainly a good option, but please add a scanline generator, my eyes are bleeding when I see an 80s Mario with square pixels on a giant LCD TV

or you can just turn it on in RetroPi

There are lots of retropie image's that are pretty much plug and play. You could also use a base image to build on for custom image. I scripted the robospin theme for attract-mode that comes on a lot of the popular pi images. Also, i highly recommend batocera for older pc's that will be more powerful than the pi. It will run gamecube, dreamcast, naomi games easily with something like an I3 or core dual 3 ghz.

I actually cant get scanlines to turn on because the version of mame I am using on mine is not a libertero version I guess.  I'll try and reimage it at some point.

RetroPie is easy to use and setup and they have a great community.

Like others have said you can find pre-made images all over the internet or build your own. Building your own is fun. Right now Retropie works on Pi 0, 2, 3, 3+ raspberry pi models. They are in the process of making a pi 4 image but its not available yet. If you have any questions feel free to reach out.

Has anyone added a simple jukebox to their retropie setup? I dont want streaming music or anything like that, just want to add a bunch of MP3 songs and have a way to select and play them.
