Obgliatory new member introduction post
« on: July 03, 2019, 01:30:01 PM »
Hi all, Wanted to say hey to all the members here. I'm looking forward to becoming a more active member in the local FL arcade community. I've managed to put together a decent arcade collection in a short period of time mostly due to dumb luck and lunatic determination. I've always been into retro gaming but I never thought I'd be buying, fixing and playing full size arcades. After a chance encounter with a member who bought a vectrex i was selling on craigslist and an invite to Free Play 2018 though things just kinda of spun out of control :-p. As luck would have it I have an awesome wife who so far has put up with and encouraged the insanity so that's a help. At this point I have more projects than working games so hoping I'll not embarrass myself too badly asking dumb questions and advice from some of the locals as time marches on. Right now my home-cade consists of a pacman cocktail, Defender upright, Gyruss in a bootleg upright, XYbots (was gonna sell but after playing with the wife she decided it was gonna stay), Super Mario Bros VS cab, Tempest, Eagle maxi cab, Solar quest, Rip off, 280 zzzap, along with a bunch of other projects. Thanks and looking forward to getting to know you guys.

welcome to the group :). early on in my collecting, i grabbed a 5 dollar tampest from a goodwill style store. diagnosed the issues during the early internet days, and purchased a 6 dollar chip. was 100% after that. it was also home use only, a term not used until the late 2000s.

i was all arcades, but went into that rabbit hole that said pinball ahead. i skipped the unicorn with the blue pill. now it's 12ish pinballs, 14ish arcades. i should have taken that pill. ;D

Welcome to the board!

Xybots and 280 Zapp are pretty rare games.. definitely do see those every day.

Is the Gyruss in a Pleadies cabinet?

Welcome aboard! You WILL like it here.
Ive been into the home pinball thing for almost 30 years and I still ask really dumb questions about Solid State games all the time! Nobodys shot me yet altho I think some of them would want to.
ME? I'm a EM guy, I get them going when they dont want to work, paint them and fix em all up and all that stuff altho I have a KING OF DIAMONDS i cant seem to get to play. Most of the time I am triumphant over the demon AX relays in wedgeheads.
If I can help you in any way don't hesitate to ask, I got a bunch of Gottlieb and some williams EM parts laying about.
You can also ask that K7 guy, he can get it for you wholesale, no really, whatever ya need. He can get it for you at the classic price. If you need a game moved we have a fella here named Donnie Greywolf who moves games around at a reasonable price. Hes also good to his mother and stray dogs and bobcats.
 Again welcome!
Current Pins and Stuff:Lucky Hand, Hurdy Gurdy, Flipper Pool, Mini Pool, Kings & Queens, North Star, Ice Revue, King of Diamonds,, Bow & Arrow, Astro..

Past Pins: way too many to list. plus a couple of vids, and  assorted other stuff.

Absinthe might have been involves when i picked it ;-). as for the gyruss it's in this funky little bootleg cabinet, got it from someone who used to own a bar where they had it setup. they had it wired up with a generic wire harness and had like 25 different pcb's with pigtails that could be swapped to change the game running in the cabinet. when i got it they had the gyruss board in it but since then they found more of the pcb's in storage along with the operators notebook on how they wired everything up and i have gyruss, pheonix, jungle king, and a ms pac man bootleg board. they said they might have more so waiting for the magical phone call that they found the remaining 21 boards that go with the cab and want to make a deal ;-)
