WTB: The Simpsons Arcade Game
« on: July 07, 2019, 06:18:02 PM »
Hi Guys:

I sold a Simpsons Arcade Game a while back and kinda miss it!

Anyone have one in really nice or restored condition that they would like to sell?  If so, please send me a PM.

I see these are available newly made but not sure about an LCD monitor.  How would the old graphics look on a LCD monitor?  Also, not looking to spend thousands!

Ideas?

Thanks.

today's market: they are $1200 bucks, give or take. no rhyme or reason. i used to trade these on the norm at under 400 bucks. right inline with TMNT dynamo cabinets. i hate to move them...screw you Konami. your cabinet choice of build sucks.

the LCD version will look like crap (maybe because i'm old skool...)  :) saves 250 lbs in weight...but none-the-less...an LCD sucks.

and to be blunt: in a barcade, this is the early 90s epitome of coolness. in a home arcade. you won't play it after 2 games.

As far as LCD vs CRT in this game, in my opinion a CRT looks much better IF it has great color and geometry.  Realistically, those are getting harder to find these days.  The only benefits of an LCD are reliability, less power consumption and weight savings.  So for a location I'd say LCD for sure, but give me a nice CRT in the home.

Good luck with your search!  I have one (with LCD) and sure I'd sell it, but since I don't really want to yet the price is steep  ;D

Be weary of the "remakes" they are often over priced. If you want to go that route might be cheaper to just get something cheap and jam a Pandora multi-board or a Pi in it.. Probably all the remake people are doing anyway.
