Buyer beware SRQ Auto Bradenton
« on: August 03, 2020, 11:53:05 PM »
My son recently bought a car from this dealer.  They used high pressure tactics and misrepresented the vehicle condition.  They asked him for a credit card before he even visited the dealership.  This vehicle belonged to the owner so the dealership was fully aware of all the issues with it. We contacted the dealership to make it right & they will not.  Stay away and take your business elsewhere.

Did he happen to pay with the credit card? If so, pursue a chargeback with the credit card issuer.

Shady vendors HATE chargebacks. Raises their rates to start with and too many of them and the credit card processors will just cut them off completely, no way to accept cards at all.

see if there's any warranty in the paperwork to return it. florida is a "you bought it, you own it" state.

i can run generic carfaxs on anything, just have to ask me. :)

also, those dealers buy from where i buy from. and for some reason, auction cars are pulling more money than the same vehicle posted on craigslist. ???

i learned to fix cars because i learned not to trust mechanics.

you can't do that in florida with a vehicle.

Wow, if warned ahead of time, I guess this falls under "live and learn" as a hard lesson. Sorry to hear of the sour deal, dealership should be avoided. I suspect your opinion will carry much more weight going forward.

This isn't a dealership... it's a used car lot.  There is a difference.  I wouldn't buy a car from that place.

also, just for public info...a carfax really doesn't tell you the whole story.

i had a 2006 saleen mustang. clean autocheck, clean carfax. i purchased that car from a credit union, who priced it as a stock mustang, purely to clean up and flip via eBay.

i took it to a local ford dealer. they ran the vin #. it had been Ford serviced for 2 major accidents: $7500 insurance paid, front right corner. and $4800, insurance paid, rear ended. i had issues aligning the car's driver rear rim/tire, so i figured i'd go to the source.  :)

i wouldn't give my credit card to a dealer...ever. :)

Life lesson for sure, unfortunately really doubt that my word will mean any more.

Unfortunately dealerships are doing shady shit these days as well.

Buying a car now seems 10x more hassle than it's ever been before, not sure why. You definitely need to do your research before you go and the minute something sounds funky just walk.

Anyone selling anything has the potential of doing shady shit... plenty proof of it right here.

A actual dealership has more to lose than a buy here/pay here lot.

And yet your dealership continues to sell Fiats  ;)

If you can read the forum you can figure out Craigslist, constant updates are tedious at best

For the money, it's actually a decent little car.

I would like to have a 500 Abarth just to play around with.  It's a fun little car.

The wifes Renegade is basically a 500 and she seems to enjoy it...I find the tranny annoyingly harsh but that's just me.
