I scratched my itch...2010 Ford Mustang Shelby GT500! ;D
« on: September 03, 2009, 07:03:57 AM »
I've been a Mustang guy without a Mustang for the past 10 years.  My lease on my current car is up next month, so I needed a new vehicle.  That decision was made yesterday when I came home with my new toy.   ;D ;D ;D  I didn't even catch crap from the wife!

This is my 5th high performance Mustang and all I can say is that it is above and beyond my wildest dreams.  540 horsepower, .97 on a skid pad, Brembo 4 wheel disc brakes and a Tremec 6 speed transmission help make this car is what it is.

I guess I'm not buying any pinball  machines for a while.  Here are some preliminary pictures:

looks nice, congrats on that Dave! saw a few 2010 Mustangs on the local Ford lot the other day, seemed to have made a few improvements over the original look for the better I think, and in black looks good  ;D

That's awesome Dave, congratulations.  We love our 2008, it's my wife's daily driver.  Are they still trying to get ADM's?

FFS, I ended up paying list...and my contact was the owner of the dealership.  They're still trying to get $5k+ over list.  Great car!  I had a deal worked on an '09 when this came up.  I'm very happy I went with the '10.

Renegade, the days of 7,000 RPM launches on slicks, autocrossing, etc. re over for me.  I need to enjoy a nice long-term daily driver.  It'll get a pulley, a new intake tube between the filter and the throttle body and a tune.  That's it.

Thanks for the good wishes, guys!

that is nice.

i had a 2006 Saleen, #953 for about 2 months (bought it to flip it). it was a nice nice car. only complaint is how cheap the saleen add on gauge package and some body work was. for such a premium, Saleen really cheaped it out.

but the stock car, and the engine work, they were top notch.

That reminds me of a different but similar concept of base car with a much different engine than stock... the newly revived Taurus SHO.  The 2010 model comes at 365 HP twin turbo.  While the specialty Mustangs make sense, the SHO is a bit of an odd beast... but those are some solid engine specs -- only 16% lower HP than the 2006 Saleen

I think Ford made some good choices with the GT500 which will appeal to it's fan base and will probably increase it.

I think Ford made some strange decisions bringing out a Taurus SHO though.  That's not the automatic home run that the GT500 is and I'm not really sure what it's trying to compete against.  The latest review I have of it is against a Mitsubishi Evo X.  Uhhhh... not the same car.  A Pontiac G8 GXP would be a better compairision but it doesn't have AWD like the SHO.  The SHO weights in at nearly 4400lbs and has a starting base price of almost 38,000... nicely equiped it's pushing $42k!  Yuck, no thanks.  I wonder how many Ford will sell.

SHO: Dunno but its being well received. My boss' bro works at Ford and took a fresh-from-the-factory SHO out to pick up my boss. He said the airport parking attendant and a toll person both got out of their booths to check out the SHO. crazy no?

Yosho...at $45,000 loaded, SHO's are no where to be found in Tampa. We sell them as quick as they come in! The Limited Taurus at $33,000 well equipped is the deal.

Shelby's at MSRP are a good deal. We don't usually sell over sticker but people do pay it on the West Coast(California). We are blessed that we sell a lot of Mustangs so we have received a lot of Shelby's with a few more coming. Be careful on ordering as some of the interiors upholstery with a convertible top are a little goofy.
