I own (still, among two other vehicles) a 2004 Isuzu Ascender Limited. Hamster helped me start this when it wouldn't start after one of Curly's open houses maybe 4 years ago now?
Anyway, I saw this rubber looking thing under my rear axle in the driveway. It's made of rubber or foam/rubber combination & was very deteriorated. It's shaped like a poop emoji too lol.
I've googled this thing and not even sure it came from the underside of my Isuzu or if it got picked up on the highway and dropped in my driveway. I'll try to attach a pic soon. I crawled under the car to see if it would fit inside the rear spring but neither had this rubber thing inside.
Closest match I found was a rear air spring but this doesn't not have any air line to it nor could it.

That is what they call a bump stop probably mounted on your rear axle. It keeps your vehicle from bottoming out

Yep.  It's a snubber.  It should be mounted on the differential or somewhere in the rear suspension.  On some vehicles they are mounted on the control arms.  I'm not sure on that specific vehicle.

It might also mount on the floor pan and point down.

yep, that's an unneeded bump stop (for anything stock) found on all shocks as well. i cut these out religiously, they are not needed when you knock reflectors off the highway.

You need to replace your rear struts/shocks, looks like you hit that thing a few times..

What weird since it fell out, car seems to squeak when backing up onto driveway and it feels like there is some "resistance" where there was none before backing up. This can't affect that can it?

You need to replace your rear struts/shocks, looks like you hit that thing a few times..
