Anyone on here have a ASTRO or maybe its brother 4 SQUARE?
« on: January 12, 2022, 11:15:36 PM »
I was playing a game and out of the blue of the western sky the 100s, 1000s and 10k score reels stop working compleatly!
I look in the back of the head and here is one stinking wire hanging there with no wire sticking out of its covering just like it broke off at a solder point. Its only long enuff to go on the 100s or the 1000s relay, the length of the wire from the harness to either the L or the M relay. Wire is one of the following:
white with green
green with white
a ;ight blue and white
a white with lt blue
cant find on the schematic . cant find a empty tab on the relays, and Im sorta colorblind and with these old ass wires........
so HELP, thats what I need is HELP.
thank you and stay away from sick people and the French

ahhhh, crapola. I may have to take this to PINSIDE which I do NOT want to do. It is sort of a rarer game. not really rare but they seem to stick to peoples collections. If I go into pinside as you know one may not emerge unscathed. They do. after all, eat their young over there.

I do not have this game, so I can not help directly with a photo.  But, it occurs to me that you might look at the symptom that none of the three set of score reels is working.  That suggests that this wire fills some purpose in the 100s real and then may be daisy chained to provide power to the remaining reels.  I would look for a spot on the 100s reel with only one wire on it, in a spot where the 1000s reel has two wires on it, rather than a bare spot.  Just a thought, but figured it could not hurt to pass it along.

Great thought there RON. PLUS the 10 pt relay works fine its the other that dont work sort of upriver from the 10pt .
I totally indeed agree with your logic which is why I keep going back to the 100s but dammit, I dont see it on the schematic and its got to be something that powers through those other, the three relays. gots to b,
I keep staring at that 100s, where oh where can it be?
I found a completely diff wire that seems to attach to the next two realays but NOT the third.
I know you know this subject, we could call it "Fear and Loathing in Gottliebville" maybe get Johnny Depp to star as you as you make your way through Gottsland, a place few pinballers enter and even fewer emerge due to the dreaded AX relay.. I could play the soldering Iron since that what I feel like, and a dumb one at that.
The solution is here,so we shall repair it here. like Robert, E, Lee, whose birthday is in a few days said just before General Burnsides, the US army's "General du jour" came across the river at Fredricksburg" " No Gentlemen , we are HERE. So they will fight us here."  and then  just slaughtered the union forces.
So we must find this attachment.
whatever Robert E. Lee said probably has nothing to do with this but hes one of my personal Idols, a man of such intelligence and dignity, we should all aspire to be that decent of a man.

OK now stay away from sick people and the French!

It’s probably not physically attached to a relay or a lug, look for a bare spot on a wire and maybe take a jumper cable and attach to it see if it works.

Ive checked each wire to those two relays , even counted the number of wires and the combination of wires to those, Nope , no difference.
Yeah this one is a head scratcher, they all seem to go that way the last couple of years, each repir has some jind of wachiness to them.k

Again, you should look for a common wire that runs the relays and attach to that wire. GL

like I said the advice, I really do, and I have taken that advice,, I appreciate all views and opinions in matters of this importance.
I STILL cant find anywhere that would meet those parameters. Evn jumped to a couple of points that MIGHT, just Might be a pace to test, and NOPE.
I DO have a friend from here that has super impressed me with his Gottlieb powers and he has promised to come visit me sometime so perhaps IO shall roll ASTRO back into the game room and bring out FLOPPER CLOWN or MINI POOL out to the living room. I have to have a game in the living room so I can play and listen to tv at the same time, this how I practice up to compete in the incredibly cut throat sport of Pinball.
