The all NEW VW Bus - quite remarkable
« on: April 26, 2022, 06:37:02 PM »
Hello FAC group,

Big Al here, apparently there’s a new electric version of the VW Bus.

I was a huge VW guy back in the day.

I have a quick YouTube video of the new one and is is quite remarkable.

Looks nice and not sure but it looks like it could even haul a pin or vid.

Pretty neat design while still holding true to the aesthetics of the original.

Happy gaming,
Big Al

well, it's a volkswagen, so even if you could stick a pinball inside, that and the VW will both be sitting on a tow truck.

i've owned 7 volkswagens. Das Auto is the biggest POS brand since 1997. i put 380,000 on my 1987 GTI. i barely broke 100K on one (if i'm lucky) after that. all well maintained.

if you ever hit a junkyard, ask them what the most common car they get is. i'm betting they'll say the jetta or golf.

Richie Rich (1)        Wrath of Olympus (6)

...and basically anything 50% off eBay/painside value

So, my “ back in the day VW “ was a 1965 6 volt VW, a 1971 bus, a VW Thing, and a Bradley GT..  A Jetta and a GTI never interested me.

K7 is a much better car guy than I am, but the electric bus does intrigue me.

BTW, my sister-in-law just bought a brand new beautiful Porsche …..it’s electric and had tons of hp but apparently you can’t smoke the tires.  If you’ve ever read any of my auto  posts ….. they are all about smoking the tires …. I’m getting old and need to go to bed.

Happy gaming,
Big Al

lol. i didn't mean to be a downer. :) the new bus looks neat.

i loved my '87 vw GTI (it's probably still running around somewhere). but then the mid 90s happened, and i had bad luck with
a 96 golf, 97 golf, 00 jetta, 01 jetta, 05 jetta, and a 1966 porsche with a new vw type 1 engine i had dropped in.

nissan is another brand i always seem to have issues with, used. yet infiniti, no issue. makes zero sense.

I heard a story long ago, late 80s - early 90s, maybe it is just urban myth…

VW exec talking to an American car company exec and the VW exec said, “You guys make cars correctly.”  And the American car exec said, “What, to last?”  And the VW exec said, “No, to break after a couple years”

I worked with a guy who had a Jetta and it was a total POS, always broken.

Never owned a micro bus, the originals are iconic.

I've been pretty happy with my VWs over the years, but I don't keep them as long as K7.

FWIW, I'm already on the waiting list.

that blue suv has been your workhorse :)

the problem i have, is they claim a no-interference engine. yet when a timing belt goes on one (because of vw's POOR cooling pipe design. plastic. genius ),
every intake and exhaust valve rod gets bent. :P

i expect my cars to get 300K miles. not sub-100K. and to be fair, i have not owned a new car since i was 17...i lowered that car the 2nd week, and voided the
factory warranty and from then onwards, i was out of the new car game.

That RAV4 has been rock solid and it only has 56k mile IIRC.

I modified my 2003 GTI and they didn't void the warranty, but every dealership is different.

…i loved my '87 vw GTI…
This reminds me, in 1987 I was finishing up my time in Dayton,OH at Uni & I had a friend stop by in her brand new black GTI, I said “Let me drive!”  By the time we got to the first turn she was screaming, hahahaha, fun little car.
