Name derivation
« on: November 22, 2022, 05:47:05 PM »
It's common knowledge that the name "Smith" is related to the profession of blacksmithing, or if your last name is "Baker" then one of your ancestors probably baked bread professionally, and so on.

My point is... spare some sympathy for all the Dickinsons out there.

is this for member's surnames? cuz i wouldn't have a clue what my damm ancestors did.

but for board names...they all derive from something. would be curious as to what member forum
names actually represent. mine is easy. K7- 7 letters in KlaSSiC...my OG forum handle,
retired at 1982 out of respect for dig dug.

my real name, Chris Gonna-Murder-You-Get-Out-Of-The-Fast-Lane-While-You-Drive-30MPH...no idea what that came from. ;D
WTB:  HotDoggin'
              ...seriously, would grab one. thanks.

I often wonder this as well.

Militiaman has been my screen name for close to 25 years now. The first BBS or message board that I ever registered for was tied to Fantasy Football (something I was enamored with in the early 90's but can't stand now). My Fantasy Football team name was the Mandarin Militia because I lived in Mandarin at the time, and I just thought the two sounded cool together. So, my screen name was Militiaman, and it has been on every message board since that day.

"Rise from your grave"

I had to Youtube Altered Beast and listen to it a few times to figure out what he was trying to say.  LOL

Thanks for sharing. I have to admit this one has always had me stumped.

And now I know ...

It fits. I can't see you as anything but Hamster now (even though I remember it used to be KiSWY4 or something like that).

I am a fan of the Seattle Seahawks, Chicago Blackhawks & Florida State Seminoles. Paz had an ah-ha moment on at least 2 of these once during a tourney, guessing not all 3

This one makes total sense.
