Foundation Good, Ahsoka Bad
« on: September 02, 2023, 10:06:47 AM »
Foundation remains my favorite show on TV, the 2nd season has been compelling and enjoyable. If you haven't watched it, give it a chance.

On the downside.. Ahsoka appears to be another mediocre Disney Star Wars project.

Out of the gate they once again haven't bothered to make any of the characters interesting or compelling on their own. Any personality they appear to have is completely derived from them being from a cartoon that most people probably haven't seen. I don't know who these people are and I don't care.

I generally like Rosario Dawson and enjoyed her previous Ahsoka cameos but much like the other Disney Star Wars series named after a central character she doesn't seem to be the central character. She just stands around stoically with her arms crossed giving out sagely advice while the other characters drive the plot.. what plot there is.

And that's the final nail it's just not compelling. It once again seems like filler as we're 3 episodes in and nothing much has happened. There's a lot of talk about Thrawn but I only know the version from the books and not the cartoon and the show isn't giving us any information on why I should care about him or his potential return.

I dunno once again this is a mediocre effort with below average writing. You'd think Disney.. one of the largest companies in the world could secure decent talent to come up with something better for one of the biggest franchises in the world.

It seems that anything with the Disney name attached to it sucks anymore.  The mouse sucks.

It's the writing, classic sci fi was written by people with actual life experiences like going to war. The worst thing that ever happened to modern writers was getting their name spelled wrong on their Starbucks cup. All they know is high school level emotional drivel so it's all they can write.

What gets me about Disney.. well recent Disney -- they are a for-profit company right? I mean the meme has always been Disney is greedy AF.

At some point though they just decided to put complete idiots in charge of some of their biggest money making divisions. They've gone in and made huge blunders.. idiotic things that even somebody with a 85 IQ wouldn't make.

The decision then implodes and costs them millions.

Many of these people not only keep their jobs but going on to make more blunders and cost them even more money. What the hell?

If you just step back and look at it from a complete business standpoint it makes no sense.

For my work I deal with people who work as higher level managers etc at major corporations all the time.

These people are almost unfailingly lazy and not that bright.. it's a chore to get them to do anything, takes weeks to make a 5 minute decision on anything.

There are 17 levels of "management" and no one does anything but pass the buck and try to avoid responsibility.

Everything is done by committee and endless meetings because no one can make a decision.

It gotten way worse after pandemic, I have no idea how most of these people keep their jobs.

I'm pretty sure Heinlein didn't write that line...but the point stands.

Maybe there's a Big Short again, but it's not the real estate market this time.

1. Short the Disney stock
2. Put in horrible writers
3. Profit?
