Alamo Drafthouse Naples
« on: May 10, 2024, 09:36:33 PM »
Hopefully this will expand into other areas in Fl. (don’t remember allot of people in Naples on the board) but my favorite chain is open there at least.

They do the whole food and drink movie thing but they also play classics and cult movies with all the usual current stuff. They also throw people out for being obnoxious and don’t allow late arrival so behavior tends to be better than normal. Way shorter previews too....

Smaller theaters at most locations and they cater more to movie people than casuals or people with 5 kids running around. I've seen some pretty obscure stuff you rarely get in a theatre over the last two years or so.

That'd be cool if we got more options here, I've heard Alamo is a pretty good chain.

Of course with theaters going the way they are I'm surprised that anyone wants to open more though.

I think they do OK... really making their money off the food and drinks.

They have a good sized menu of decent food with full bar and good beer selection. Easy to drop an extra $40+ in two hours.

Pretty much give away their monthly pass thing for $30 for unlimited movies (one free per day) since they know you'll buy more stuff.

They did 1989 this month so played Back to the Future 2, Batman 89, Bride of Re-animator, UHF, Pet Sematary, The Burbs etc.

Yeah we have A-List which is how I see a movie every week.

Just the AMC theaters are all pretty run down in the area now.

Like my local used to be banging with opening nights being a big event with giveaways and such. Now they only keep a skeleton crew so most of the theater is a ghost town, the seats are the same from the 90s (and look it) and there are constant projection problems.

Sad.

Yah, that sucks...

AMC I'll hit up for bigger screens etc but they are all over the place quality wise, lucky to have the one flagship one which they keep in decent shape (and I assume makes money since the IMAX is always booked up) but the others are all fairly dumpy.

I have a Regal local to me I can literally walk to but its so shitty I wont go there unless there is no other choice.

Hopefully you get an Alamo around Tampa, they care at least. They are trying to franchise them now...

we had "something" like this in clearwater, it closed years ago.

also, not here, but in texas you can rent full amc theaters for groups of 25 , and you pick movie/time.

I fix things.. all the things.. but you have reach out first to see how my queue looks. ( all things arcade/pinball/computer ) ... do not do house calls, repairs are generally live streamed on twitch.

That wasn't an alamo draft house in clearwater. It was called the draft house or something similar but wasn't the same chain.

And you can rent theaters at AMC here as well.. at least theoretically. I tried to rent one during the tail of COVID when they were heavily promoting it as an option but they never called me back.
